GB laser barrels

I want to buff mine out first. I am still leaning to powder coating, just clear over a buffed shine. Maybe tinted, haven't decided.
                                                   :-/
I bet you colorized powder coating would hide most of those tooling marks w/ little prep.
I still think you should look into this, (if you plan on having coating as an option in the future) as it is cheap, easy to do, works great on aluminum, and would give your product a wide range of finish color/tint options.
(As I am sure these will grow into something great further down the road)

(BTW-The Kenometer arrived yesterday-THANK YOU, it is great! Though I am crying over my WL 125 Fusion that hits only 95 for one second and then settles out at 75 or less if warm. Go Figure, Stinkin' WL'ers! :'()

They look awesome. Definitely will be in for run2 if they are anodized and all. rubber strips in vertical grooves make me think lightsaber!! Had alot of pages to catch up on reading since I just discovered all my previous notifications were disabled for some strange reason.
BR diode is waiting to go into this one unless someone has one of those mitsubishi 200mW CW diodes to spare from the PL GB *hint*hint*

I got a couple and they are sweet. Wishing I got more :P
 
So tempted to grab a couple of phazor diodes but I realize I only have 1 barrel. Maybe it s time to stock up on diodes for the next run of these barrels.
 
Can anyone tell me how easy the bluray diodes burn out? I'm planning on putting one of those in this barrel, but if they burn out easy I may need to order a 2nd one or I might just buy a phazor diode.. But I'd really rather the bluray

It is usualy in the build that things can go wrong, do that carefully with a correctly built and tested driver, set to the correct ma it will last for ages.

Are the drivers that are supplied with this barrel variable? I thought they were set standard to run red or bluray diodes.. :-/ I hope I don't burn out my diode....
 
They are regulated but variable. there is a pot on them that can be adjusted from 12-80ma for bluray and 12-380ma for red. You will adjust, screw on the barrel, test, unscrew from barrel, adjust repeat.
 
Dr. lava, has pointed out something about the barrels that is important to note and it's the clicky's not staying in place.  OK here's what I'd recommend as a solution for holding the clicky in place.  there is a recess inside the barrel where the clicky fits above it for a snap ring, or a constant section retaining ring I've posted a picture below of a constant section retaining ring below to illustrate what they are for those that don't know.

You can find these at most hardware stores.  Just find one that is slightly larger than the inside diameter and compress it, push it down into the recess (groove) and it will hold the clicky in place without having tension from the spring.  If you get too large a ring though it will make contact with the side of the barrel and the spring shorting out the barrel and making it constantly on.  This problem is going to get resolved in the next run as were going to make a button hole up top instead of on the bottom.

Nope.  They are all unassembled.  I provide the medium.  You provide the work.  That's what this was alll about.
Trust me assembly is easy. the one thing you'll need to purchase on your own is the ring, diode, and batteries.

YOU CAN USE RECHARGABLES!!!
