GB laser barrels

cr123. I can't believe you asked that question. it's in hundreds of places round this thread alone.

also, I did some research and found that the phazer diodes are just to expensive for my taste, so, any other suggestions?

I'm sure the driver in there is removable and modifiable. Also, there are schematics for its current incarnation, which you modify for your own needs. Who knows how well this thing sinks heat anyway, since it doesn't have much surface area.

well I have no doubt it's going to be a LOT better than the aixiz module alone. You can use pretty much any driver as there will be plenty of room in the barrel as long as it's small in size. You could use the DX drivers probably. AMC7135 for example.

man kenom those things look good, cant wait to get my hands on one...

I was thinking about using a simple LM317T driver (My amc's are only 350mA) and run an open can at 500mA in this. Do you think this has the sufficient heatsinking to stabily run the open can at that current and heat? I was also thinking about changing the provided lens with a glass....

well, I hope itl work out,

amk

The problem with the AMC7135 is the diode must be isolated from the case. But anyway, the barrels are awesome. ;D

yea, basically isolating the diode means no heatinking, so scratch the AMC, I want something powerful, yet different. 10mW of bluray just doesnt fit my taste of powerful... I guess Ill just go with another opencan.

why do you have to isolate the case? i dont and my diodes are fine

Look at the wiring diagram for it. Ground in is not the same as ground out. You are running the full current from your batteries into your diode if the diode is not isolated. This is assuming you are using a flashlight as a host that is using the flashlight case to run ground from the battery to the driver!

oh gotcha, yea i havent been using in a flashlight except the DDL mxdl and it worked perfect for me

go and look at the "MXDL over 300mW" thread, ull see why when using the AMC u gotta isolate

amk

Not as of yet. I'm not too horribly suprised by it either. I'm soo looking for a differnt cnc shop for the next run.

Kenom, are the driver boards all set to go in or do we still need to wait for them.

P.S. Once this whole thing is said and done Im sure everyone will be glad we did it!
( motivational speech is subjet to change )
