GB: 473nm diode information / giveaway

Re: GB: 473nm diode information / raffle

I'm in with $10. Just make sure you don't give up overdriving it too early because of the raffle... If it survives even better but if it doesn't that should be fine as well :P

I also have serious doubts that this is a "one of a kind" deal.. There's always someone saying that when a new diode appears and within a year or two they get more available and cheaper. Not to mention it wouldn't be economical for Nichia to spend on R&D to make a few and give up manufacturing.

The reason why I don't see more of these becoming available is the low amount of uses for this diode. 445nm/460nm diodes are already cheap enough for projectors and 520nm green laser diodes are also on the market. I just don't see a big enough use to make mass production of these diodes practical, especially when 473nm DPSS is available and holds a stable wavelength.

I could be completely wrong though.

Re: GB: 473nm diode information / raffle

Makes sense but then again why sould they spend money on creating a useless diode? Unless it was some accidental by-product...

Re: GB: 473nm diode information / raffle

I dont really have extra dough these days but I could throw $5 in for a chance.

Re: GB: 473nm diode information / raffle

@styro: Crap. Let's hope it's obsolete because a 100mW is on the way :P

Edit: you forgot my $10, ARG

Whoops, sorry. I'll add you now :)

Re: GB: 473nm diode information / raffle

Obselete? Interesting...

Re: GB: 473nm diode information / raffle

I'm still rooting for a 1W+ version IDK about guys. Maybe I set my hopes too high though :D

A member here gave me a heads up about a PP ToS.

This is now an information collection & giveaway, not an information collection & raffle. Just to stay compliant so there are no issues.

hey ya'll

Good idea and a good cause... BUT
what you are offering here aside from the other parts is on-line gambling- unlikely anything bad will happen BUT

if one were to use 'r4ffle' in a PP payment that may be bad- PP is very clear on this and has shut down others-

IMO it should be auto blocked just Sp4ghtti-- so instead of R4FFLE you see *****.

I have done 'fundraisers' etc here but never use the R word- 'incentive giveaway' seems to be OK.

Kinda late ATM to edit it out of three pages of posts- but for future reference- keep in mind PP policies. Good luck,, hk
