If it's for a red you might get away with it but it will be in the mid 400's or lower. If it's for a 12x BR, no.

I would need to buy 1000+ to get any appreciable discount, and Im not going to float 5K worth of parts.

In the interest of board space and simplicity it will not have reverse polarity on any of my drivers, its easy to add by putting a diode across the LD+/LD- or the V+/V- pins. [LD-]----|Diode>|----[LD+]

jibs (or anybody else), could you show me in a "paint" diagram where to put the protection diode? I want to be sure of this before blowing a (laser) diode. Sorry if it's very basic

at the risk of looking stupid, i think you could just solder it in parallel with the resistors.

Both yield about 80mA with a 4V load. I have to fix my test load so I cant test lower 3V and 2V loads.
