FS: Jibs Linear Drivers

Re: FS: LM1117 Based Linear Driver - 1.3A Fixed

cool thanks for having me in line jib, cant wait till that batch is ready. although i wanted to know as they are stock, are the resistors in parallel or in series? I have only 1W smd resistors in small values, so if they are in parallel it would help to keep them thermally controlled (since you use 2w resistors).

They are parallel.

@ jib77
I'd like to buy two of them. Thanx

Re: FS: LM1117 Based Linear Driver - 1.3A Fixed

Hey jib, I am very interesting in getting a few of these drivers, quick question though.

In the OP, you stated that the Minimum Vin is 6V (4V load), so does that mean I can use a 18650 4.2 volt cause of the 4V load? But I am guessing and am pretty sure that the minimum Vin is the 6V so I would have to use two CR123 in a series or anything with a Vin inbetween 6V and 9V.

If this is true, let me know.

If it is possible to lower the minimum Vin, also please let me know!!!

Thanks.

Re: FS: LM1117 Based Linear Driver - 1.3A Fixed

You will need to use 2 cr123's with this. The 18650 will provide 4.2V only when it's freshly charged and only for a few seconds. As soon as you put a load on it, the voltage is going to drop down to it's 3.6 voltage.

I am curious how many of these you have left from the mid march batch.

My drivers arrived today.

Thanks

Peace,

Added you to list.

I would say 6V is the minimum you need for a 445nm diode at 4.7V. That only leaves about 1.3V for regulator overhead. Extrion was able to power a red as-is with 3xAAA NiMH @ 400mA.

I am curious how many of these you have left from the mid march batch.

Looks like 13 available so far.

Excellente!

This 445nm puts out 1.2W pretty stable off 2 cr123's

Re: FS: LM1117 Based Linear Driver - 1.3A Fixed

...Love the heatsinks on the driver Kenom, awesome config for saving space too! Can't wait to see the final product :) :)

Re: FS: LM1117 Based Linear Driver - 1.3A Fixed

Nice! I'm digging the copper. I was thinking of getting some of those heatsinks next time I place a DX order.

Re: FS: LM1117 Based Linear Driver - 1.3A Fixed

works great too. Cut it in half and your set. I'm debating if I should get rid of the sticky stuff and place it with arctic silver epoxy or just leave it as is. The heatsinks don't seem to get that warm.. The head of the Kryton does tho!

Re: FS: LM1117 Based Linear Driver - 1.3A Fixed

what's the sticky stuff? I only know arctic silver & pyrowire when working at these levels, nothing but the best

Are you saying that those HS are available from DX? In that size other than ken cutting one if half to have the correct size for the driver to be heat sinked?

I am going to search DX now, but in case I don't find it, could someone who knows what this Heat sink is actually called on DX post that or a link?

Thanks ahead of time!!!

Thanks for the link, I wasn't able to fine it.

So this was very helpful!

+1 rep!
