Heatsink Idea ...

I re-purposed a northbridge heatsink from an old mother board. I broke off the "fingers" and then cut them into tiny heatsinks. I have a limited number of these "fingers" if you want one included with the driver. Example use:

(near offtopic)
I've seen copper heatsinks..
not painted yellow, real copper
only in 1 motherboard or 2 maybe.

I haven't seen any copper ones lately, the closest I saw was Aluminum with a round copper plug in the middle.

Re: FS: LM1117 Based Linear Driver - 1.3A Fixed

Update ... this heatsinked driver is a FREAK! Just tested it on a bench PSU w/ 7.2V input and a 4V load and its supplying 1.6A! For those that require it, this driver can be strict limited to 1.25A by removing one of the resistors. This is only if you don't want a higher current when you heatsink your driver.

lol? total heatsink mass: 1g :D
I'd get one if it would run from 3.2~4.2v single 10440 for my reddie :(:(:(

Re: FS: LM1117 Based Linear Driver - 1.3A Fixed

I would like to purchase one of these from you. According to your first post you have exactly 1 left or am I going to have to wait?

Kenom, your driver shipped today.

Next 12 PCs are at the Fab, I expect them sometime next week. Another 12 ordered for the next PCB batch expected early March.

It may sound silly but.. isn't the LM1117 1A max? How you did it?

That is just a marketing number, it is engineered for way more so it is reliable under normal applications. Adding heatsink allows the part to dissipate more power, its just like our beloved laser diodes. :)
