I just used this driver for a LPC-815 build in a Hotlight kit from Moh. I wanted to use it for a 445, but do not have a host that could use 2 CR123A, I thought I would see what it put out at the 3.5V the 3 NiMh AAA's I had since that's what I had on hand and I was getting around 400ma on my test load, so I figured I would try one of my LPC-815's since I had a few from a GB some time back and if I killed one no big deal. Well it worked out nicely and I now have a nice looking red DIY to add to my collection. Here are a few pictures. There is no smoke or fog for the beam shots, I just dimmed the lights a bit so the camera on my phone could pick up the beam.

edit: I just remembered I had a Aixiz glass 650nm lens so I traded it out for the acrylic. This little guy burns nicely when focused but it drains the NiMh fairly quick, but I have some 22600's on order that were for this host anyway so I will see how it looks with those when they come in. Now I just need to get a LPM and some glasses for reds.

Congrats on your build :D I have 2 of these myself... heatsinked jibdrivers (^above: FREAK 1.6A heatsinking) that are just waiting for that right host, which is on order.

Nice pics also. I've been watching this thread for someone's response on using the drivers for whatever laser - and there you are +1 :beer:

Awesome indeed! Cant wait to see what a 26650 will do since it puts out so much more current. I bet it will do 1A+ but just be limited to 3V on the voltage. Thanks for posting results!

Thanks, I've been dying the last few days wanting to use one of the two drivers and I was out today looking for some 10440's and when I couldn't find any I just thought what the hell and tried the AAA's. You would think that with all the dumb odd sizes that the Battery Plus stores carry they would have some rechargeable Li-Ions, but they don't. I hate when you can only find something online when you need it now. :banghead:

I'll be using this to build a 445nm in a Kryton Groove w/2xcr123

The other one I have I'm waiting to use for a 445 and it will probably be in one of the Grooves I have coming that I had anodized blue/black just for that purpose. Hey Jib77 we need a driver that will put out 3 to 4 amps, so when the Kryton Beasts are finished I can put in a 445 and try for 3 watts. :eg:

Ill work on it, I think I just found a 3A chip that will fit on this PCB :) Not sure if this PCB has enough copper thermal area to handle 3A, so I might have no choice but to make it bigger.

making it bigger is the only other option. I honestly can't see someone wanting to put the driver inside a aixiz module..

Well 0.25" longer yielded 2x the copper area for the thermal pad, so I think its worth a try. :)

Stock up on these because im going to be a huge customer!

Also, instead of using 1 18650 could I use two cr123a batteries?

2 cells are a must if you want to drive anything above 3V and at full current on these.

The next PCB order window closes in a couple of days, what kind of numbers are you talking about? In addition to the 12 coming in this week, I have 24 in the pipe for early March.
