FS Blue Laser - 445nm 50mw - $499

I figured Dave would've been here by now.

Better put up the Dave Signal, I guess...

Thanks PBD.

I am up between Ontario airport and LA (91744). It will take several hours for a good test of the diode (including set-up and tear-down). Plus, I do most of this kind of work in the middle of the night when all is quiet (when I am not fighting crime, that is) ;)

Maybe I have got the wrong end of the stick, but wasn't there a seller on eBay selling 500mw examples of 445nm diodes recently at around this price?

If so these are a little pricey eh.

The price of the other diodes really has no relevance to these. Before the gentleman showed up with the 500mW ones, we were looking at these for the same price range (maybe a bit lower). At the level of "samples" increased output does not necessarily correlate with price.

Peace,
dave

Holy crap, it worked...

Awesome!

And nice to know where you live, Dave...I've been to the Ikea in Covina, and that doesn't appear to be too far at all, it seems. I guess it's all relative, but not too far.

LOL! How could one miss that strong of a signal? Your photonic prowess is legendary.

Ikea is less than 5 miles from here

Maybe we could shop for silverware together

Peace,
dave

Hey guys, thanks for all your feedback. I'd be happy to let a respected member in Southern California test these diodes - I'm in OC. Jayrob - I'll be in the bay area (san jose) for memorial day weekend also - how long does the testing process typically take?

Thanks,

Gary

I'm about 1 1/2 hours north of San Jose...

The thread title says 'Blue Laser'.

Do you have lasers? Or just the diodes?

If it is a working laser, then just a power measurement will be very quick.

But if it is a diode, then we would need an hour or two to put one into an AixiZ module, mount it into a host/heatsink, and install a driver for it. Then do some testing.

The spec sheet tells us what is needed. So we can get a general idea of were to start...

it would be nice to see a legit blue laser sold at this decent price

Sorry for the confusion, I have just the diodes - what's it take to get these into a laser package? I kind of want to keep one for myself now hehe

Please give me a day to respond to all questions, it's quite overwhelming the amount of response... THX

Do you have the data sheet? NDB7242E is multimode I believe. Like SirVesa mentioned... (not sure)

Hey, nice diodes. Just a word of caution - the 7242 has the 3.8mm package so it won't be compatible with the 5.6mm housings we are so used to using. Can you post the full datasheet?

I have machined aluminum adapters for 3.8 mm diodes. 50 mW in a small case?? WOW!
I'd love to mount one up but the $$$ is a bit much for me right now.

Hi guys, sorry I sold the whole pack to a dealer. I'm getting another shipment of loose ones in 2 weeks, if there are any available I will post them up.

Thanks for looking!

$500 seems is a lot for 50mW (then again it's hard to say that since they aren't really available anywhere) nonetheless this seems like a great opportunity to have some true blue diodes. I look forward to the test results

Hey guys,

I sold them for a fair price for that type of qty. Didn't really make that much money, but my buddy in Japan is happy.

There might be more - I am keeping my fingers crossed - I really want to stick a blue laser on the end of AR15 hehe, not sure how much that will help with sighting but it will look cool :)

My first priority is to get one tested by a reputable member here though.

Thanks
