Oh, for some reason, the previously waiting and anxious members of the cursed part of Batch #2 don't seem to be reading this thread anymore...

No-no, not true, amigo, some of us are still lurking in the background... :D

You do know, that you are my favorite mad scientist of all, right? ;)

I'm thinking about putting up that United Nuclear sign that says "Trespassers will be used for science experiments" right next to the High Voltage, Radioactive Materials and Class 4 Laser signs on my new work shed.

Ideally i'd sell them at manufacturing cost, but who, other than mad scientists would even want them?

Think of them as a solution looking for a problem, then identify the problem. Failing that, you could always use them to make microscopes or something like that. The ones they sell to kids these days are usually worse than what you could make with scrap and a few lenses from disposable cameras.

And, yes, a donation box is a good idea.

If you want some, however, just contact me directly.. You know my email address, it's been reactivated now (and mostly cleaned up... but if there is an email i missed, just poke it a little to make it come out at the top.)..

I'll keep it in mind. Bit much on my plate right now, but I'll get around to it. Neat lenses for some experiments I have in mind (such as intentionally using the spherical aberration to get depth imaging of a scanned sample in a microscope).

I was thinking (well actually others suggested it) of including a "donation box" on the GB payment page, to compensate a little for the research losses, and maybe offer the beautiful v1 lenses too, at a very low price, for anyone who might want them, for whatever reason they can come up with, or simply just for their "historical value"...

Are these lenses mounted in an aixiz module, and do they actually offer any improvement at all?

With all due respect Mr. T, is that avitar of yours big enough...???

 / ;)

Umm, what now?

How was i supposed to know what it would look like without testing it first?
And i don't really have all that much time right now.

I had trouble getting it in at 100x100px size, cos i confused something, it used to be 120x120 on the old forum, and it was not legible enough.

Please allow me some time, before i find a size, that pleases your eyes.

EDIT: Happy now? It's barelly legible - again....

I stumbled upon some information, that is making me start to doubt, that the GGW 6x i use is the 105mW Sharp diode we have a known datasheet of...

Turns out Sharp announced a 250mW pulsed diode for 6x Blu Ray writer drives, at a time the LG drive was already in production.

This explains why, while comparing my old 6x to the 100mW Nichia i immediatelly got the feeling the 6x is tougher, even tho they should have been the same, if the GGW was 105mW...

They also said, that they are working on a 300mW pulsed diode for 8x drives, which confirms my suspicion, that the 150mW Nichia diode, if real, should be pretty much the same thing as an 8x.....

I just hope they get here quickly so i can test them! Unfortunatelly someone made a big shipping mistake, and used Priority instead of Express which i paid for. Priority Flatrate for US to Slovenia packages is pretty much the worst option there is. The cheapest shipping is actually faster!

So i ordered a third test diode to be shipped to Glenn, for him to ship it to me with proper express.. :(

At this point the experiment is becoming expensive, if the diode should turn out to be a dud. But then again, i spent pretty much all the lazor money on various experiments (Never had a way of getting it out of PP anyway) If it is real, then i won't mind getting three tho..

We shall see. I just hope they get here soon.

Anyway, this "new" (for me) info makes me see the 6x's in a whole new light. No wonder they are so hard to kill! I'm guessing they must be 125mW CW/250mW pulsed rated diodes, and not 105mW/210mW as originally assumed...

Hahaha, you know what that is? Where did you find it?!?

It's the Maribor Postal Logistics center. Also it is the only place where i can give off stuff till 10 in the evening. So i often drive there.. More often, in fact, than i go to the post office which is only a minute of walk away from my workshop...

But no, i'm in the buffer-zone right now. And i almost always use the buffer..

Man, i was working nights again (on the lasers), and got completelly disoriented as to which day it (already) is... :yabbem:

Sam7, you'll be happy to hear, that packaging has just begun for Batch #3.. :yh:

To EVERYONE: Don't be surprised, if i am quiet during this period. As i mentioned many times before, the packaging is my least favorite part, due to all the microscopic (literally) details i have to pay attention to, when putting together and checking the optical assembly.. :gun:

P.S. I still have not received more than two bonus batch requests.. What's that all about?

Maybe i should just be quiet? Less work to worry about? Just let it blow over?

But seriously, people.. If you (members of the cursed part of Batch #2) suffered ANY kind of discomfort due to my problems and my resulting absence (and the resulting delay of your lasers), you qualify for the bonus batch. If you ever complained about anything while i was away (or even if you didn't), you should now be asking me for the bonus laser!

I WANT to make it up to you, ok?!? Jesus, do i have to beg?

Hmm, maybe i should put a deadline on it... :undecided:

Well like I said somewhere above, I'm holding onto my "favor" for something that will really make use of your V3... like an 8X

I'm just waiting for the diodes to make it to the reject pile so that I can actually afford one...

Igor, my e-mails haven't appeared to have reached you at all.
Just sent another a couple of mins ago, hopefully you'll receive it.

Not sure why everyone but me seem to have received their lasers, though.
(Especially when I was originally to have mine before Batch 2 !)

Me too... (sigh)
