How much do you think it would cost to buy one pre-made?

Because, as great as it is, being free, a lot of people don't have too much experience with handling surface mount components... like myself included.

Surface mount stuff is just too tiny for human fingers.

Surface mount is easier than you would think. Just requires a bit of "technique". Get yourself an eye loupe, and a nice pair of fine point tweezers.

The big secret to success with SMD...............Solder Paste!!!!!

THIS place has it all, on the cheap

I'd love to be able to make and sell these, but at the profit margin required by these two, it's not worth the time (even though I wouldn't mind hand-soldering them all).

These will be available premade soon. Price will be about $10 each.

If they cost $5.00 in parts and then some one will have solder it all up for only $1.00 or $2.00

$5.00 for assembly is cheap for one off's now if you had an oven and were making 100's at a
time then still $10.00 is a real good price.

Especially when you consider the closest thing will cost you $25.00

That's why I offered RHD to sell these for $10 a piece. Apparently I wasn't taken up on that offer =p

^I think that me and rhd just weren't sure what to do with these at that point, but we've pretty much gotten it figured out now.

Think of soldering all them tiny parts in place, how much time will that take the average person who doesn't have a re-flow oven ?

what's your time worth ?

Yes I would say $10.00 is a steal for this hand assembled driver and it would be easily worth it at $15.00 each, remember the
next best Buck-Boost driver is $25.00

Now if a person was to make 1000 of these and use a re-flow oven the assembly cost would be less for sure.

Anyone got 5K and an oven to put in the game :undecided:

I wouldn't mind solder all the pieces together. I have the equipment right here.
I found it is a great joy to make something from just bare components.
Just a bag of components and the PCb and I am a happy man. :D

Would it be polarity protection for the LD

That's a good number Jerry 11,500 :gj:

;)...

No I don't think so... it would be cheaper to do that with
a Shottky diode...

There seems to be another issue but I'll wait for a reply first...
I could be wrong...
