Follow my new N520, N465 & 490nm builds.

I have lost things in my stock many times. I have so many parts there are boxes and drawers full of all sorts of items. I usually find them only when I no longer need them and am looking for something else I have put away for safe keeping.

Seriously though, they call this having a senior moment. :na:
I wish mine were moments Bob but unfortunately they're more like episodes.

Ha, I do that a lot!!
More important item is to me, to more "safer" place I usually put it... -And few weeks later I'll have to spend hour to find it.. It's very frustrating..
My wife says that I'm a master of hiding items from myself.. :D :D

I hear yah, Tero and Paul.
You should see all the other things I came across before I found Tero's hosts, lol.

hehehe, you think I was joking Bob!
I really couldn't find them. :o
I put them in a safe place and forgot where I put them.
Thankfully I found them after I just spent an hour looking around.
Tero wants me to check the tolerance of the 25mm module.
Will have to do that later today.

Yeah the N465 and N520 are ones I really wanted for these builds.
Can't wait to see the beams.

:D

Hi RB,
I built a N520 in a SL S4X with a custom black powder coated sink and the diode is really nice.

You crack me up Tero.

Ok, guys, I need your advice.
I tested the hosts and modules.
The 25mm modules are just a touch too wide for the hosts.
The hosts measure around 0.1mm narrower.
What's the best way to get the modules to fit?
How do I shim away the Aluminium on the host?
Would just sandpaper be enough?

Just sand it a bit or wisit local hardware store and get on of these,

@ Tero, yep I got it done good buddy.
Got the blue host sanded with my wife's flexible nail file, don't tell her.
Will put it together tomorrow if I get the chance.

@ Bob, thank you kind Sir.

Hi,
Thats a great tool I use them on all my builds to smooth out the 12mm module hole. These hones smooth out the drilling marks to a fine finish. They aren't cheap either but last a long time I am still using the same hone for the last 40 or so builds.

You are being called out by Mr. Phuoc, Andrew. What have you got say for yourself?

Every day in the forum I follow this topic - and there are no new images-Really look forward to seeing complete construction - and details

I'm so sorry for the delay.
I was hoping to have had them done but my work schedule changed last night.
I would like to complete both so that I can post pics of both so please forgive me.
I'll try to finish them tomorrow.
Last night after work was a clear starry night outside so I grabbed my camera and took some beam shots of the 495nm.
I just finished processing them and will post them in my 495nm build.
Please check it out and I hope you enjoy them.
Note: these are not the 490nm mentioned here but Rich's 495nm.
There was an issue with the 490nm that I received and so I'm awaiting replacements of those.

Cheers
RB

Andrew, what issue have you had with the 490nm lasers? I found that if they are paired with a Nano Boost driver and the case pin is grounded to the cathode of the driver, it causes the beam to decrease in power and cut out completely. The fix is to cut the case pin and ground the driver at the input negative point of the driver's supply voltage.
