Follow my new N520, N465 & 490nm builds.

Andrew, what issue have you had with the 490nm lasers?

Nothing exotic Paul, I was just a bit too impatient.
I'd ordered two 490s with drivers from Jordan.
In the mad rush on these new diodes, he sent me two without drivers.
Just the diodes in 12mm copper modules.
I didn't notice that they were bare diodes without drivers as I assumed they had drivers in them.
Well.... you know... I now have two nice 490 LEDs, hahahahaha.... :D

Jordan was, as usual, very quick to respond and two new replacements are on the way.

:o

Oh, no!!!!! I can see you just hooking the two wires up to your battery. Yikes! I guess it helps if you bought 400 of them.

Finally got the chance to put together the two hosts tonight.
The N465 and N520.

Notice the nice new focus rings that Rich had made for me to match these hosts.

Some thermal paste on the modules.

The focus rings are placed on the lens'.

And the final result, wunderbar !!!

Will do some beam shots tomorrow as the weather permits and to get the four 26650 batteries fully charged as they're low and I'm getting dropouts.

Nice build pics RB! :)
Seems that Beeswax / Carnauba wax coating on blue host has maintain it's glossiness / oxidation layer away better than green host which didn't have wax on it..

No Sanwu BE's?!

They are two very nice looking builds, Andrew. I wish you had added a beam shot, but if you need to recharge batteries, I can wait. I'm out of rep at the moment, but hope that will resolve later.

Those are quite a pair of matching lasers that you have there, Andrew, a very fitting addition to your museum!
We're all waiting for those beautiful beam shots that are sure to be coming. :yh:

Very nice indeed Andrew. And now for those beamshots. :p
The hosts look great.

Thanks guys, yeah sorry no beam shots last night.
The weather outside was rubbish and the batteries weren't fully charged so the lasers wouldn't stay on long, only the LED switches lit up.
I would like to take my time and get some nice beams worthy of the units.

Tero, yes I'll have to get the Sanwu BE's onto these too.
Just really wanted to get the units finished.
Also have a heap of units to review from badboybilly but haven't had the time.
Will work through the list as time permits.
It's harder now with my new work commitments.

Cheers everyone.

Great builds

I’d rep you, but this damn system won’t let me rep anyone on this page
Thank you for your kind words my friend.

Bob, thank you buddy.
Glad you enjoyed.
Don't know if you saw my other build thread, it's Rich's 495nm.
I also included some astro beam shots.
Here's the link my friend.

Weather's turned and we have rain atm.
Managed to grab a beam shot quickly before we got the storm.
I put the Sanwu B.E on the 520 to try it out.
I was amazed that I was able to focus the beam to such a tight spot at distance.
Will try out some more beams when it's suitable.

and the beam shot....
At this distance the dot is a bar but further out it looks like a tight spot.
