The nice thing about how I set up the coin sinks is you can adjust the pot anytime you want without needing to remove the driver.
That is the way to go if ones host can allow it

Jay is dead on as usual.
The main purpose of the coin is to move the heat to the host body. Previous heatsinks that I have used did not have contact with the host and just built up the heat until the driver overheated. Granted that one took me from a 30 second max with no heatsink to around 3 minutes.
Old way with no contact to the pill. Gives around a 3 minute run.
New way. Continuous duty cycle. Solid contact with the pill.
It would be even better to do it your way, but have an additional driver heatsink inside the pill
I'm sure coins make excellent heat sinks, and btw, I have access to many many coins of all sizes in 3 grades of silver, silver is one of the best heat sink metals, these coins are as follows: 99.9% or "FINE silver, sterling or 92.5% silver and "Coin silver which is 90% silver by weight. Also the Kennedy Half dollars from 1975 to 1980 are 40% silver. These 1964 and earlier dates are all 90% silver as are these date US 1/2 dollars, dimes and quarters. -GlennIt's amazing that a simple coin is thick enough to heat sink the driver for that long of a time!
