Flexdrive Driver Heatsink for Continuous driver duty cycle @ 1.5A

I got lazy, and used the quote brackets from another post.

You can see I do refer to it as adhesive about ten times in the OP.:p
 






Yep, thats the edu site I found 1st. It said out of stock and people were saying no they are finally in and they were placing orders. Then LSP site came from somewhere. Someone cloning his drives?
Also it mentioned him filling his big suppliers 1st. I thought he might be a professor and had a website also. I'll find it.

Simple question please. Why not glue it directly to the side of the host?

That would be a great idea if you could find a flat area to do so. You are right the idea is to use the host body as the heatsink. Here is my Ehgemus host that I did the other day. I had to bend the edges of a coin just right to make a flat area to mount the driver.

It works too. I mean even a freakin quarter or a penny handles it. It's more amazing when you actually try it yourself and see or should I say feel the difference.

The entire host gets warm.

EDIT: I'm thinking about opening my tank007 and putting a penny at the bottom of the heat sink with a V5 attached and jack up the power
 
Poor little flex drives everywhere are going to be abused because of me.:D

I wonder if this coin fix can be used for having the driver in the aixiz module. But I suspect it is not going to fit.

Technically one can use heat conductive and current resistive adhesive to fix the driver in the module but I'd personally prefer having a coin (or similar) in between

**( Driver > thermal adhesive (non conductive) > coin/something else > thermal paste (not permanent adhesive) > aixiz module casing **

in case I ever want to take the driver out and adjust it :)

As far as I know nobody has done any scientifically documented life tests with them being driven @ 1.5A. I think there were a few murder experiments. With that said I have had many lasers set to 1.5A and above and none have died or had any degradation that I have notice. Even my Frankenstein that has been used a lot is still buzzing along without any degradation. It has been running no lower than 1.6A and has bee fro the last couple of hours of runtime been set to 1.73A.

These didoes are very robust and I think they will last a long time. I have been thinking these diode would have to be extremely reliable because of how they are in the projector compared to the diodes we have harvested out of dvd and blueray writers. They need to be able to run for very long time continuously. Now compare that to bluray diodes that work for shorter periods of time not that frequently. Think about how many hours you spend burning bluray discs and compare that to how many hours you watch tv.

The nice thing about how I set up the coin sinks is you can adjust the pot anytime you want without needing to remove the driver.;)
