DTR's Laser Shop - Laser Diodes & More

Jordon ---
I got my 405 today.
I did it right this time!!!!!
I'm happy with 650 mW @530 mA.
Thanks a bunch. HMike

Hello, I'm working on assembling my first laser and was wondering if you have the "300mW 650nm Single Mode Diode In Copper Module W/Leads & Acrylic Lens" in stock? Also, if so would this acrylic lens be sufficient or should I invest in a glass focusing lens? Thank you.

Yep they are. If the site lets you buy it they are in stock. I like that the site keeps track of inventory for me preventing sales of anything that is too low for the quantity selected or not in stock. Plus I almost always put out of stock on the page if something is not available but the sites inventory tracker works as a back up if I don't do it in time.:)

You will be just fine with the acrylic on this.

You're so sneaky DTR ;) I received that box of knife edge arrays today. I didn't realize you could fit so many units in a priority mail box! Fun times :) Much appreciated Good Sir

Edit 5/7/13

I received a priority mail box from DTR with his knife edge arrays. Hmm I thought, a few units in styrofoam, Ok cool. much to my suprise there were 24 arrays in the box!

I disassembled one of the smaller arrays to see what I had gotten myself into. I have always loved figuring out how to take things apart. When I was younger I just tended to destroy my future spaceship or raygun in the end ;)

An 8 mirror array, mounted lens and a switch, the odd RC gauge wire x 24 not bad at all.

(Pointless rambling, please skip)

Now that I'm older I still enjoy taking things apart to see what makes them tick, but now the idea of re purposing them is more interesting. As I sit here harvesting parts, I think about the LPF vets and other hacker/tinkerers (The old school meaning of hacker: a curious person who likes to see how things tick and make them better. This unconventional mindset tends to sometimes inspire a disdain for authority, but also fosters a love of learning.) Who scoured the internetz for busted projectors just in the hopes that a working diode would be there.

I read and followed the forum for a while before I actually took the plunge and joined. What I discovered (my opinion) is that it isn't a business or an enterprise. The "selling" is in fact usually members helping other members who may need some money for life because this is a hobby, but it is a hobby like very few others, because it carries the burden of responsibility and severe legal and moral ramifications. A member would prefer to have their "baby" in the hands of a responsible person that they know appreciates the risks and loves the craft/art.

If people here were motivated by money 3 years waiting on a GB would've ended in legal battles and police reports. Instead the community here responded with kindness, understanding and support because that person was a well respected and loved member who unfortunately had life intervene. Admirable

Thank you LPF members new and old, DTR, Daguin, mods & vets all for creating and maintaining this incredible place.
