noob here. lol

Ive been working with LEDs for years now so im somewhat familiar with using power pucks and modding host.

I'm looking at buying your m140 w/microboost and g2 lens. but i have a few questions.

in the picture on your website the microboost looks like it will be covered by the back portion of the module. Do you headsink the microboost to the module? so the only thing required now is pressing the module into the heatsink of the host right?

I would like to use 2 3.0v protected RCR123a batteries. looking at the microboost specs it will handle 5.7v. have you powered them higher? will they handle the 6v from the RCR123's? I usually get about 6.2-6.3v at full charge. reason i want to use them is that i already have about 20 lol.

Thanks for your time.

The reason the drop in units are only 1W or 1.3W depending on which lens you go with is the driver can only be set to 1050mA without heatsinking the driver to the host body which is not possible if it is in the module.

If you want the microboost set to a higher current you can get the diode in module with leads and glass lens and a separate microboost that is set to 1.5A with leads added. This option will require hetsinking. See this thread for how.

You can only use a single Li-ion with a microboost. The driver can only work in boost mode so with 445 diodes that has a 4.5V+ forward voltage that is the max voltage input. Using a diode like a 405 12X that has a 6V+ forward voltage then you use the max of the driver which is 5.5V.;)

If you want to use 2X Li-Ions then go with a X-drive or Blitzbuck driver.

so i'm better off using a 18650 with the microboost. or 3 cr123's and the blitzbuck. I want to run it at 1.5A so i'll be ordering the 445 and probably a microboost soon. Thanks for your help.

These M140's are crazy.

I ordered an M140 and G-2 lens from you last last last week (I think) , the A140 in my ancient but trusty Jarob 18650 kit was failing at about 400mW @ 1.7A ! , whacked in your M140 and it was doing 1555mW with 3 element lens an pushing 1900mW with the G-2 , from a single 18650 & flexdrive.

+2 for ya

Great kit.

Just got my Sky Ray host and 2watt 445 m140 with x drive and G2 lens. Fast shipping and my first laser now put together and up and running! Thanks for the help in deciding what would work best for what I wanted. Cheers and +1.

Great. Enjoy. They are some of my favorite 18650 flashlight based hosts I have found. Got some pics.:)

I am interested in purchasing your "445nm 9mm Diode In V4 Copper Module W/2.1A X-Drive Stock Lens Option"

Will the driver as it sits have enough heat sinking? I plan on just screwing the cover on over it and pressing it into the heat sink.

Thanks

Yes the X-drive is self regulating for heat. One of the reasons I like it so much. If it does get too warm it will decrease the current but that is only after a few minutes of continuous operation.:)

schaweeeeeetttttt ill be ordering soon. If I add a lens holder can you toss in a spring or two?
