Do you think the 12x module is good for 500mw with the G-2?

Yes you could run it quite conservatively and get 500mW with a G-2. 450mA would give good life and still get you 600/700mW.;)

Sounds good! What kind of power should I expect from the 635/G-2? I Have a nice heat sink set aside for it (see avatar).

That setup should work. If you got one set to 750mA with a G-2 you would be looking about 700-800mW and 750mA and under is suggested if you don't use TEC cooling. These diodes can actually handle much more but passive cooling won't keep the diode from having big wavelength shifts when you get closer to running it with 1A.;)

I notice on one chart that when you surpass 1A the wavelength goes crazy, past 650nm, it this just from driving it at a higher current or is it a direct result of heat?

although, i think getting a red handheld up to that output is still amazing, even if it ends up being a higher wavelength.

I have yet to build one. Maybe when i get back from florida at the end of Feb. i'll treat myself to one :D

I would love to get matching sets of C6 lasers at 405/445/532/635/650 inside a nice aluminum case. Just to show off.

You forgot the 808nm laser :D

Received the two modules yesterday. Great workmanship, as usual. The 635 has an amazing visible beam and the 405 was burning things across the room during re-focus!
Thanks for the great work and let me know when you get the 635 bare diodes in!

Did I got a bad M140 diode ? At 1.6 current I got lowly 1.2W from the diode. And that with the G2 lens from DTR !!
An older A140 is doing better than that. My second M140 with the same set-up is already hitting 2W at 1.64A !

What a disappointment ! :(

That would certainly be the lowest one that I have seen or heard of.:(

Is the raw output clean?

I've got a diode running at 1.67 A that is doing around 1,050 mW through a 3-element, so this is probably on par. I think it would be 1.2W if I put a G lens on.

I don't know if this particular diode came from DTR, but I know that it's an M-series. So, it does happen. Just like there were low binning diodes in the A-series, there are in the M-series too (just fewer and further between I suppose).

Yes, the raw output is clean. No artifacts what so ever. If you don't have a LPM you wouldn't know the differences.

This is my second M140 diode. Power output as it should be.

Well I guess it can be seen like this. With the A140 you had maybe a 1 in 10 chance of getting a 2W diode. Based on your experience that is 50/50. The actual ratio is a lot higher than that but with just this small sampling you got the A140 beat by lot.:o

As I pointed out in the other thread you posted these results in that that low of efficiency is something I have not seen before and the chances of getting one that low has got to be very very small.
