Re: Community Focus Knob - Group Development / Group Buy - Take two
I think I can get a functional design into 50 x 35 x 25 mm, with 2x fully adjustable dichro mounts (no dichros), glass output window, screws, etc and sell it as a kit for $50 target.
Re: Community Focus Knob - Group Development / Group Buy - Take two
alrighty then cmon folks... i could use these focus knobs... we need feedback!!!! most likely i will facilitate this group buy as to make it easier for US buyers. Depending on interest level we could break it down to a 5pc minimal. I just dont feel like sending out 100 boxes of 2 each you know? it gets annoying printing and shipping so many packages. right now we are looking at a minimal of 214 units give or take 14.
My logic was that there may be a bunch of people who weren't interested in this group buy itself, but may still have some knowledge of CAD, CNC and be willing to lend us 5 minutes to look at the design. Since those people probably stopped reading this thread a while back, I think it was ok/appropriate to post that new thread.
Re: Community Focus Knob - Group Development / Group Buy - Take two
Does anyone know if there's a way we can get consultation from eMachineShop before giving the go-ahead? Or even if we can request a 5 minute chat with the machinist before proceeding?
Re: Community Focus Knob - Group Development / Group Buy - Take two
if they could make stuff already then I would have this GB running by now. The shop is in the setup stage. Im not sure if the machines are ordered yet but at least they got a location. just need to buy machines set it up and hire people...takes a couple months...
as of now rhd and I are set on going through emachineshop
they have an email, i sent them rhd's render file along with a lenghty message about the error messages we encountered. Its the weekend so they probably wont get back to me until monday or later.
Re: Community Focus Knob - Group Development / Group Buy - Take two
To be honest - the only impediment (and it's self imposed) is that I don't feel good about collecting money when the design hasn't been double checked. That's it. I would really just like someone with knowledge of how CNC and taps work, to look at our layout.
"Community" it's your time to shine
If that doesn't happen by a week from now, I'll try to annoy eMachineShop for help. That said, I think they tack on cost whenever you need their input on a design. So it would be great if this could be avoided.
