I'm glad you're not putting those back threads on the module! It seemed like such a waste to force the heat out only the lens-holder area, or rely on the regular brass module on the back.

I'd probably be in for 10x 5.6mm modules and 6x 9mm modules.

The back threads are obsolete anyways. Very rarely do people make handhelds that even have room for the back portion.

Those backs from DTR were aluminum and worked very nice as more mass and wicked a lot if heat away.

I cut of a piece of the back part in the dorcy build in my sig. Nonethless i dont mind not having threads.

Having a thread is easier to press a diode with the diode press tool. :D
But I agree for maximum performance without thread is the best.
Some people use the back end for extra performance but if the front part and the back part isn't completely flush then the heat transfer to the sink isn't perfect.

I'm in for 5 of each.

You can still use the press pretty easy. Set a heatsink face down and drop in the module, back tube, diode, and press. The heatsink keeps it all aligned so you can press it normally.

Or I could just make press tools that come with a tube that slips over the module instead of screwing onto it.

Personally i never use the tube anyways as i like to watch it happen to make sure nothing is going wrong.

Tried that once, slipped and sheared the pins right off the diode. Never doing that again!

I do it with a vice, not pliers.
I've slipped with pliers as well.

I was using a C-clamp haha

As it was spinning it rolled up on one edge and shot out.

I never get enough leverage (or enough that I'd trust) with pliers, so it's a vise all the way. It's a good investment anyway.

I broke my bench vice need to get a new one. It was really old. I could use a 5ton hydraulic press. Ill show you "past flush" lol!

Once I successfully pressed a diode by putting all my weight on it with the side of my needle nose.

:rolleyes: You guys and your high tech diode presses. All you need is a cylindrical piece of brass or aluminium the same size as the diode. I made the 9mm diode press in this picture :D (The first practical thing I made on my lathe)

I don't think the back part helps at all for heat transfer any way, the gap between the threads is too big, even with thermal paste.

I'm going to have some copper modules manufactured pretty soon. These modules will be the same as the aixiz modules, but will not contain the back threads.

I won't be doing 3.8mm modules this run.
Only 5.6mm & 9mm.
Starting is going to be $2ea. + actual shipping cost.

Prices are based on a quote I got about 8 months ago, so ill have to confirm.

Lead time manufacturing is normally 10 days, plus 3-5 for shipping. So they should arrive here within 2 weeks of ordering.

Sorry guys, but I have to impose a 5 piece minimum order rule. Poly bags, padded envelopes and adhesive labels add up, so I don't want to send out 500 packages (nor do I want the task of mailing that many!)

Minimum order is for 500 pcs. Ill pick up any that are left. If we exceed that goal before I get my share, ill retrieve a new quote for a price break.

I'll take 10 X 5.6mm and 10 X 9mm. I can thread the backs myself. I actually use the back threads in my builds to attach the modules to my copper heatsinks. Let me know when and how much to send for payment. You already have my address from the order I placed the other day.

Can you put me down for 3 x 5.6mm and 2 x 9mm (possibily 5 of each depending on postage)

Also how much would postage to Australia be? and how much would a press tool for un-threaded modules be?
