No sample were requested or sent. We "knew" what we wanted and ordered them. They sent what we ordered. Dorcy MAY still do something for us. My admonition was mostly to head off an "indignant" contact in which the person "demanded" that the company "make restitution" for their "mistake."

Yes. That is an exaggeration, but it is done to make clear the attitude I am trying to prevent.

Whoever, contacts them, be nice. They have not done anything wrong.

Peace,
dave

I can understand what your saying :) being an ass to them would be the wrong way to deal with this matter :)

Pretty easy, even dull, on the most part. Maths 1 (iGCSE) and DT Core were both jokes- 98% and 94% respectively, having finished with over half an hour to spare after checking through. I've only got a few back so far, but I don't expect any low marks (Geography will be my lowest, I suspect). Have you done mocks/"live exams" recently?

Thats allright for some. I found that I got 1 grade higher in real exams than mocks, (10 As, then 9A*s and 1A,) but I'm guessing you already have been told that, and you don't really need 1 grade higher by the looks of it:D

I also found the mocks a lot more stressful and difficult than the real things. I probably did more revision for them as well. The real exams were rather pleasant really; I got up late, and just wandered in when the exam started, and after the exams, just spent some time with friends and then went home again:beer:

This year, we don't really have mocks, because we finish the AS course in april. A week on thursday, I have a statistics and probability exam, but that is it until may/june.

What subjects are you doing next year?

Rob

(sorry for the OT)

I finally managed my goal of not making a single mistake: 100% on DT Electronics paper (though my teacher marked a question wrong at first - he didn't seem to know which way round LEDs need to be wired ;) ). I took these mocks relatively casually, had a late-ish set of nights, and half hour flick-through of my notes the night before. We had snow disrupt most of the mocks, so I could saunter into school at 9:15 then go home at 3:30, play with some lasers or CoD, eat, play around some more, half an hour of notes, then sleep. To be honest, I doubt the "revision" made much difference except for in geography (case studies are the single most annoying part of it). I think apart from English I got all A*s in the mocks (still have French oral to do, though).

Next year my plan is something like this:
Maths + Further Maths
DT (off-timetable)
Physics
(Either Biology or Chemistry, or both if I can)

What was your A in? Nice set of results you got there. EDIT: Also, what have you chosen so far? And what are you doing next year?

Hey guys... I thought you might want to see this thread!

New Style Dorcy Jr Build

EzPk0970 has dimentions for a hs for our new host... He also has details on how to make battery contacts and such...

Hope this helps!! -Adrian

ok just got the new dorcy from Daguin today and started building the heatsink and I need your opinion. I just want to know if you like the front of the host this way or would you like it better if the focus ring was recessed in the front. please let me know your opinion.

As far as holding the heatsink in I have found a pretty nifty way to hold it in and I will tell you guys about it tomorrow. I know this was a concern that everyone had.

NO!! That looks great! Are these press fitted (aixis in hs) or are they set screwed? Also is there any way to get the rim of the front part of the HS rounded?

Looks great!! Thanks alot! -Adrian

I prefer my heat sinks to be flush or recessed a bit.

However, I do like "nifty" ;)

Peace,
dave

hahaha def. I can't wait... any ideas for the old HS's? Could be a nice paper weight for the time being!

did I spell nifty wrong?:D
what do you mean by recessed, like inside the host or the HS longer with a recess?

They are just a bit too big for the pocket mini host. They could probably be sanded down enough to work in them. Also, there are still some older style Dorcys around.

No. It is just when a fabricator says he's found something "nifty" it usually means that something interesting is about to be unveiled ;)

It appears that the heat sink extends beyond the "top" of the host. I just don't like them "sticking out." I just like them flush or below the top of the host. NP. Just my preference. I'm probably going to just build some cheap "workers" to recoup my costs anyway.

Peace,
dave
