latest pics. running at almost the max the controller can handle 4 amps per channel I get an easy 15 min run time till the 50 watt current limmiting resistors reach 300 deg F and the LED's are ony at 102 deg F, dam where did I put thoes 60 amp mosfet's ? I need a smaller junk box LOL...

50 watts of current limmiting per channel after 10min they will burn the hide off ya !

BTW, that assembly can almost become a combined lightning / heating system, for the winter ..... :whistle: :D

Edit: i meant lighting (illumination), not lightning ..... damn typos :D

I'd try to modify the driver to work at 5V to spare the excess heat.

Nice leds were did you get the high power leds what power output are they eg 50 watt 100 watt or higher and is it one die in the led or multiple dies in the led also were did you get that nice looking rgb controller ??

i making a high power rgb light and cant find any power leds

Wow.. these are quite amazing... designed to be used in TV backlights right?

There should be no need for peltier cooling on these, as they can operate well even when fairly warm (unlike laser diodes). The problem is just the amount of power, about 200 watts if you run all of them fulltime. You'd be looking at a 0.2K/W-ish heatsink, much larger than what they are attached to now.

I suppose the easiest solution would be mounting each led on a CPU cooler with the fan running. Typical (good) P4-class coolers have thermal resistances in the order of 0.5K/W, which should suffice.
 
A fellow worker gave them to me he got them from the distibuter, and I think the will sink more than 100 watts as each one can sink 18 amps, WOW..
the die is one large die some how segmented as there are 51 Au wires going to the dies on the blue and green and 26 Au wires for the die on the red one.
you can get the controller on line it's from bigclive.com in the UK, he has links to some LED supplyers maby you can find some HP LED's there if not try this one phenoptix - LED Specialists the controller can only sink 5 amp per channel, wish it was 60 amps right now LOL. thanks for asking, have a nice day !

I believe those are PhlatLight LEDs.

That is their distinctive mounting configuration.

They were developed to be used in LED projectors.

Their new SST-90 LED draws about 9 amps each, so these may be different models.

Nice work on the heatsink.

I have some TEC's that draw about 70 watts.

Reading the data sheet these leds are the CBT-120 Color Series LEDs with a 18 amps continus draw the little plug next to the large led power connectors is a thermistor sensor built into the led for heat sink temprature >
 
Check these out FML they can eat 10 more amp's of power than the one you are playing with, I still haven't found good resistors with high enough wattage for them ;)
 
WHERE DID HE GET THE LED's?

Every phlatlight led i've seen costs roughly $200. Each!
 
I would love to find these leds for under 50$.
i thought 1 watt leds were nice but that much power.
