Brown Laser?

Some time ago i looked at the TFT of my Nokia and thougt about whether its possible to mix a "brown" laser beam from RGB or other *colors* which are not covered by the rainbow. I mean, the LCD is white light + rgb pixels too... or i am missing some point?
 





Theoretically it's possible. Try mixing a brown color using e.g. a color palette in WinWord (fillcolor) to determine the approximate R/G/B ratio. Translating that into the required laser powers would be a separate issue. Brown is probably the most difficult color you can pick!
 
Oh, this is gona be difficult. Just tryed it in mspaint; when you choose brown the gradiant besides the color triangle will go from white over orange over brown to black. the ratio is aprox 2:1:0 RGB. but its the "lab-brightness" what makes it brown, if i go up without changing the color ratio, it gets orange.

But... a laser will be always bright, even if its power can be reduced. damn!
 
MS Paint concurs: 128:64:0 which is orange, only dimmer. And so it needs to be either scanned or diffused. It works better in contrast with other colors. For example A light gray looks white unless it's next to white.
 
Why in the world would you want a brown laser... that's not pretty al all. :P
 
yeah It's possible, I've seen some pretty gross colors come out of pangolin software. It's no fault of the software, in fact it's because the software can create SOOO many different colors that you have to be a little careful with what you come up with... or else you get a brown laser. ;D
 
is there a hint of brown ish here??

Hmmm... I see orange, but I really can't call the dimmer portions of the beam brown.
 
But it comes close ... nice!

It just was the best example i imagined - cuz i was thinking of rgb LEDs and that i never seen them making "brown" ... other colors i think of would be olive green, brick red, sandy yellow or even Gold

That be sweet, a black laser beam in a sunny day! Oh maybe in a foggy room would make more sense.
 
Brown IS orange basically. :P Your rgb screen can't create brown either.It's just orange but dimmer, and when you put it in contrast with other brighter colors it looks like brown.Just like a brown object reflects very little orange , so it looks brown in contrast with other objects. If you'd set an LCD to be brown and turn off all other lights in the room, before scotopic vision kicks in, it's gonna look orange. :P
 
I work with thermoplastics. The ones you can melt over and over again. We were making a brown crate looking thing. The stock material was regrind (recycled, reused) plastic. The regrind looked like every color of the rainbow but when they were mixed together they all came out BROWN!
