I see brown there... one could argue it's orange, but it definitely looks more brown than orange to me.

Doesn't Red + Green = Brown?
nope red and green at 1:1 gives yellow, but most yellow lasers using mixed red:green dont work properly 100% of the time, you often get one of the colours working stronger than the other. waste of money tbh

when it's running on almost dead batteries, my amber Rigel looks pretty much brown...

I just found this table while looking for something diferent:

So 1/3 Green + Full Red should give brown... i dont belive but anyone to try?

If you go by that chart brown =

90mw red + 30mw green = ?mw brown.

*waits for somone to correct me cause I have no idea :-[*

I think that your issue lies in that brown is a hue, not a color. Just like you can't make a gray laser (it would look white, unless compared to a brigther white spot next to it) you can't make a brown laser since it would look like an orange spot unless around other orange spots. To get an idea of this try holding a piece of paper with a hold in ot over the brown square in the chart above, and the color won't look nearly as brown (just like holding the same hold over the grew one would make it look more white)

But with washes I see no reason why it wouldn't be possible, or maybe with an argon with a ton of lines to get a good mix of greens red oranges etc that would net a brown of sorts

Brown, light-wise, is orange viewed at low intensity, or in contrast against a brighter background, for example a dim orange area against a bright white field will be perceived as brown- a trick of perception.

Several years ago a friend of mine told me about an experiment that was done in pyrotechnics along similar lines. Someone had brought up the subject of brown in fireworks, i.e., could you make a shell that would break into brown stars? One of the pyrotechnic club members succeeded in this, not by making "brown" light, but by using a combination of "plain" orange stars and brilliant silver comets in the same shell. The lower-output orange, against the bright silver (white) backdrop reduced the apparent intensity of the orange stars to the point they appeared brown, even though they weren't.

Wow... our eyes are f' crazy complicated systems.

So for a brown laser wen need at least a brighter orange ray beneath a dimmer?

Anyone tried a grey lasershow?

Depends on the wavelength, if you use 694.3nm then you will need A LOT more than you would at say 632.8nm .

oh i didnt mean equal parts.. just the two combined in a varied ratio would be brown...

i guess brown light on the other hand is a little more complicated.

loool

tonight i dreamed about the CNI website showing their new grey, gold and brown lab lasers :D

200MW red "dida" and 30Mw green pen style pointer and i get a yellow/white.
Now of corse the power (Mw's) may not be of that, as i have no LPM to comfraem and i do where glasses. but that's what i see.

My $.02

I dont think ive seen brown in my personal exploits, I have got a maroonish shade though... Also gold and a few other interesting colours:)

when I first got into BR lasers I had a dream that I found a violet government laser weapon that would cut down trees... best dream ever!
