Bin Laden is dead!

the girl married the prince and the bad guy has been killed.

this week brought to you by Disney

Uhm .....

..... assuming Osama is the "bad guy", who can be the prince, and who can be the girl ? ..... (epic question, i know ..... :p :D)

Uhm ..... just my usual half cent, as playing devil's advocate .....

1) MAYBE someone killed Osama, but til i don't check myself

2) USA have NOT (technically) satisfied all the precepts (obligations ? ..... traditions ?) of a muslim funeral, that, as far as i remember, say that deads must be inhumatd in the earth, including persons died in the sea (there was something about also a drown must be recovered and buried in the ground, not left in the water, so technically this part can be used as excuse for start some revenge)

3) al Quaeda is not dead just cause Osama is dead (if is) ..... they may have killed a boss, but an organization like that one does not have a single boss, never.

4) there are stills voices that claim that 9/11 was not happened as the "official" history say ..... it was much better, imho, to catck him alive, and constrain him to speak about all (but i understand that a dead man cannot contradict "official" versions nor add "uncomfortable" details to an already-settled story, so, probably, a plan for catch him alive was not an option from the beginning :eg:)

There was another few important point, about Osama money and about what happens, now, of all his money and affiliates and accounts ..... just as example, Hawala network, 16 known Arabic businessmen (and not known others) joined to his affairs, drug commerce, diamonds commerce, Al Tawqa and Al Barakaat companies, the 54 companies that USA seized funds for being implicated with Osama (or claimed to help him and managing his money, at various levels), and few other less important details ..... but i see that the news don't mention all this, so probably is not a relevant detail, this last one :p :D

I didn't know it was our job to fulfill the obligations of a muslim funeral.

I think his death is still a significant blow to the extremists. Symbolism means A LOT to these people. Bin Laden was more of a symbol than anything else for the last ten years of his life. Sure, they have other leaders, but don't think they aren't mourning his death!

Nice job being devil's advocate btw, you being up good points!

I for one don't like that they respected his religious beliefs. He harbored no respect for other religions!

The burial at sea is ok in my book.

Want respect? You will never get it by giving disrespect to anyone including people you dont like.

Guys guys, there is no reason to argue about it because obviously, the U.S. Government always tells the absolute truth!

WTH this is just a discussion on the interwebz- no argument.

An eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind

Or maybe is it a 445nm in every hand....

Good Answer!!

JOB?? Its is just showing a bit of respect to a religion that has been around for a very long time. Done NOT out of respect for Usama but for that of other Muslims. If we were to set his body on fire and drag it thru the streets I am sure there would be many here that would like that, but I like to think that the USA is not about all that crazyness.

‎"I mourn the loss of thousands of precious lives, but I will not rejoice in the death of one, not even an enemy. Returning hate for hate multiplies hate, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars. Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that" ~ Martin Luther King

Very powerful quote.

And sadly, only really applicable to relatively civilized opponents who come from the post-enlightenment traditions of Western Civilization. The likes of MLK and Gandhi and their beliefs and tactics would only ever work on Americans and the British, peoples with an ingrained sense of justice and tolerance that could be appealed to.

You try taking "the high road" with people like the Nazis, Imperial Japanese, the Chinese, or militant Islamists, and they'll just be thankful you sat still for them to kill you all the easier.

The meek shall inherit the Earth. Usually in mass graves.

If you want to take that MLK quote to mean "Don't be a gibbering idiot, foaming at the mouth and so full of hate, so that you drop to their level." that's all well and good, and sage advice. If you take it as some sort of kum-by-yah/I'd like to buy the world a Coke and a smile-type of message, you're destined to be worm food.

There are people who need killing in this world. We got one of them finally last weekend.

Dude...seriously...neither I, nor surfer was saying that Osama shouldn't have been killed. Obviously he did deserve to die. Reading into it a little too much there.

I don't want respect from bin laden, nor does he doesn't deserve any respect. Though he sure respected all those bi-standards and targets in the ordering of multiple suicide bombings.
Also I don't go around giving undue disrespect. The only people I don't like and show respect to are the ones that want me dead. :yh:

By giving him a supposed "religious" burial who are we appeasing? a religion? The religion of peace, Islam, should condemn that man and his actions.

in my opinion the "burial" was just a gimmick to get rid of the body. our nation doesn't want to bury it here, and i doubt any country would have accepted it. the only real respect shown was not desicrating it with autopsy and such and disposing of it in a muslim timely manner. burried in earth or in ocean is a moot point in my mind.

i just pray that pakistan wasnt hiding him.

michael.

They have pictures of Osama,

and a video of his burial. Now the question remains, is it too soon to release them?

Seems to me, that the bad guys will be horribly "offended" anyhow. So I say just release them, and debunk all the "He's not really dead myths".

+1^^^^ I think they could at least release the so called death photo. And what about the DNA evidence? I would very much like to see this, and I think allot of others want to see it as well!

Like I said earlier if people made as much of a deal as they did out of Obama's birth certificate think of what they'll do if no evidence is given!

Well if the evidence is not forthcoming, I'm sure ( hope! ) that many will demand it.

It feels kind of weird to see people celebrating somebody else's death. I mean I know he was a bad guy and there is no justifying what he did. I think I can understand people in New York celebrating, I can't imagine how horrible it must have been for them. The whole thing just made me feel uncomfortable. But thats just my $.02

Yea they should release the photo's. There wasn't any problem releasing photos of Saddam or his sons. There shouldnt be a discussion as to weather they are too graphic or not. Its not like any one is going to be forced to see them. We are adults, I believe we can handle it.

It would also be cool to see the video of it as well. I heard one team member had a cam feeding real time footage.

As for the celebrating, that is a hard one. I'm fine with it, I didn't go out and party just sat at home happy we finally got him. Its not like we (the US) were savages dragging his headless mutilated body through the streets cheering while mutilating it further. However I know that is how it may have been perceived
