Yeah, no problem. Great deal for 700.

If you do look at anything else, make sure NONE of the important specs (CPU, GPU, Ram+Ram frequency, HDD Size) are lower than that ASUS for the same price or less, only then would I consider getting something different.

Well, it's like i said earlier....I found a Acer that can't compare to anything in it's price range. It's an amazing deal, but with that said...It's still an Acer. I will likely stay with the Asus.

Newegg.com - Acer Aspire AS5742G-6600 Notebook Intel Core i5 480M(2.66GHz) 15.6" 4GB Memory 500GB HDD 5400rpm DVD Super Multi NVIDIA GeForce GT 540M w/ NVIDIA Optimus

Besides the tiny step up cpu, and a decently better video card, it's still an Acer. But you can only pull so much realistic gpu performance out of non-gaming laptop, so those cards are probably closer to performance than one would think if you were going to try to run a medium-high end pc game on either.

My vote had to go to Asus because they have been a favorite of mine for years!

Though currently I am using a Toshiba Satellite A665. I would say Toshiba but this laptop I have now has been a bit frustrating. I got it at the end of August of 2010 as a replacement for a lower end Toshiba Satellite that was stolen when some jerk broke out my windows while I was in the Science museum in San Francisco :( What a bummer... :( But thats why I got laptop insurance haha it only cost me $200 to get the laptop I'm currently using! YAY!!!

Anywayyyy...
Now with that said I'd like to let it be known that I've had no further problems since October of 2010. At the end of October they offered a new BIOS and I've been problem free!!!
If my previous laptop had not been stolen and this didn't have major issues prior to October 2010 I'd have to say that Asus and Toshiba come in at a tie.

I honestly don't understand what you are trying to say.

I would never buy a Toshiba, Sony Vaio, Compaq, HP (especially HP), or EMachines computer. Ever. That being said, If I was forced to buy one of those 5, it would be a Toshiba.

Sorry I'll rephrase. Laptops can only put out so much power. If the laptop wasn't made for gaming, your performance in games will be much more limited, no matter what medium-end gpu your laptop has.

I would never buy an HP ever. I recently fixed a dv-series hp of my mom's that had vista (so it wasn't too too old). The motherboard would no longer recognize the wireless card and then the USB ports started going faulty after that. Had to replace the motherboard. HP did a recall a year previously and failed to let my mom know about it. Sorry but I would just stay clear of HP, lots of other brands out there.

I've stayed clear from them for years, but that is a pretty good deal. I put HP in the same level as Acer.

I love my Toshiba Qosmio- its for portable gaming though.
But If it can ran crysis on high settings, it can do anything.
my 2 cents

Almost every laptop brand has a high end series.

Sorry I don't know what else to add to that sentence, lol.
