I recently did a complete reinstall of windows on a compaq (basically same as HP, and same company). LOTS of bloatware to get rid of.
I was actually surprised at when I got my gateway desktop I have now and the gateway laptop I got a few years ago and sold to my sister last year, at how much less bloatware there was. A lot of it was quick click uninstalls and that's it.
In my experience, number 1 for bloatware has been eMachines, and number 2 is HP/Compaq.
