Interesting comparison of cell manufacturers by Pike Research for automotive applications:

Rating gives top marks to LG for execution and strategy.

LG has contracts to supply GM Volt,

and new Ford hybrid with lithium ion cellls.

I guess they're not anywhere near making cells for automotive applications

The problem with the volt is it cost us tax payers over a grand per car made. Cant believe how much money the govt. gave them for this car and it gets the same mpg as my 04 saab 9-3....

Right wing babble.

The oil companies already squashed the electric car projects back in the 90's when they set gas prices well under $2 a gallon. Now that gas is almost $4 a gallon, and rising, they are still coming up with excuses to detour research and production.

I'm all for anything they can do to keep less car fumes out of my face.

NO right wing babble. Id just rather see a product hit the market when it can actually do as good as they say. Govt. gave GM millions to invest and they still sucked it up. Im all for electric cars, good ones.

Looking forward to hi-speed electric peformance motors! :)

Back to the good ol' days of Tamiya RC toy cars

Which is what percent of the annual budget?

Im sorry, my numbers were WAY off... The chevy volt is estimated to cost $256,824 per vehicle made of tax payers dollars. GM was given $60 billion dollars of tax payer money to invest in a electric car. The volt is the crap they gave us.

until electric cars can do better skids than my car, i will not buy one, global warming and the need for "green" energy is bullshit.

The importance of this R & D is . . .

Longer Run Times

and

More Power for Stronger Lasers

yes, you folks are missing the point. Who the heck wants to get an electric car? pfft. I'm just excited for the batteries. Group buy, anyone? I'll buy a volt and we'll just split up the battery pack :san:
