hey Jay, something just crossed my mind.

I could be wrong, but maybe painting your custom aluminum spacer flat black would take care of the funky side splash. Having anything reflective inside lens cavity is generally a "no no" in optics.

Good idea, and I tried it just a little while ago. The spacer is after the lens though. The beam has already been collimated. See here: (most of the discussion is in this other thread now)

Not planning on selling out, I just order parts a few at a time (because they are expensive), and it is usually not more than a couple or three days before I can have it in the mail to you...

I was thinking about the same thing too.

Use none reflective paint or use sand paper to make the inside less reflective.

It was worth a try, but no improvment because the spacer is after the collimated beam...

Perhaps these LD's are getting up toward the wide c-mount type emitters needing an FAC.
