ARGMeter Open Source - Coming Soon

Re: ARGLPM Open Source - Coming Soon

Hey ARG....
I noticed that you dropped the Max Power to 3.5W from
4.0Watts.

What is the Power Density damage threshold for your
Sensor Coating..

Still working on that Jerry, I need to get my calibrstion LPM back before I can give an accurate damage threshold.

The reason for editing it is that I shouldn't say the metering powers are that high untill I do more testing and am confident it can meter up to 4W without a problem.

Corr, this thread is like watching a very good TV film with too many commercial breaks :D

If you have nothing useful to add... why do you
bother posting... Or are you just TROLLING....

Good move....

Re: ARGLPM Open Source - Coming Soon

Schematic has been cleaned up, BoM has been made. Firmware is next on my hit list. Release will be in a month or so I imagine. I want to make the Ophir version before this goes live.

I'm going to put this all on a website because there is a lot to it and I'm rubbish at formatting forum posts.

WTH???
we have no need for pot stirring- :shhh:these guys are being civil and you seem to want conflict- not cool IMO:evil:

My sincere apologise if that was misunderstood - the comment was suggesting a 4.0w or 3.5w rating would be enough for me - I certainly don't want a conflict.

N/P MMode- perhaps you were not around back in the days of the LPM 'Possees' and more drama and hatin' on this forum than we could stand. So some of us are still 'touchy' and while many may say 'its just the interwebz' this forum , for many, is a little more.

Which reminds me that I am a little overdue in sending my small monthly donation to LPF--any amount sent is helpful.. I think LPF is worth that and more to me.

Re: ARGLPM Open Source - Coming Soon

First one (TEC) is near complete, few firmware tweaks & curve correction and she'll be done!

Website is near done as well.

The v1.1's will be 150$ (TEC).
v1.1 for Ophir will be 85$.
(Of course these can be made yourself for less!)

The v1.1 boards are compatible with both Ophir and TEC :)

Assembly guide and cleaned up firmware will come after the official launch, I want to get this out there and cleaning up the firmware (putting notes everywhere) will take a while.

If anyone has the spare time to look over the schematic before I post it please PM me. I've already gotten a couple people to look over it, I just want to be sure there are no flaws.

Ophir version will be avaliable a couple weeks after I sell this first one; need to sell one before I buy parts for more. I've invested quite a bit into this project :p

I am ready for the the first OPHIR V1.1 model if you are. After receiving the data input board for my Adruino I can't wait for the full model.

Re: ARGLPM Open Source - Coming Soon

I'm in for either 1.0 or 1.1!

Are those prices with the Arduino and USB cable included? How much for just the shield and TEC? (I already have a couple Arduinos here)

I'm curious about the design. From the capacity to go to 5W and the resolution I'm assuming you're using a 16 bit ADC, right?

I'd appreciate a higher wattage TEC but I'm in for 3.5W as well :)

Please post on this thread or send me a PM when you put them for sale, I only saw this post today and it's been here for 2 weeks.

Re: ARGLPM Open Source - Coming Soon

Those prices are with the USB cable, 9V battery to 2.5mm plug adapter and Arduino.

The ADC in the design is 16 bits, send you a PM with the schematic.

The first one will be for sale late today most likely (V1 TEC)

Re: ARGLPM Open Source - Coming Soon

Parts are being delayed because of the Chinese new year, but after that the Ophir versions will be available for purchase. :) Going to have to do some testing with the TEC versions before I can release all of this.

If you want one for Ophir let me know and I'll put you on the waiting list.

Re: ARGLPM Open Source - Coming Soon

I'll have you put me down. This will make for a nice lpm. Aren't you also working on an addon to add data logging to any lpm?

You're on my list :) The PCB for the data logging add-ons are in the mail ATM.

Re: ARGLPM Open Source - Coming Soon

I'm kinda torn between the two actually.

The data logging add-ons wont have the IC to make the -9V and +9V. There was a routing mistake on the PCB.

You can always get this and use it without the screen if you want.

Re: ARGLPM Open Source - Coming Soon

For the Ophir features of the board, you could implement a tiny DC-DC converter to power the Ophir. It could be a very small one since the Ophir amp draws little current. A 5VDC -> +-9VDC converter module can be purchased inexpensively for use on PCB.

To implement both sensor types on just one board, will there be some sort of tecAmp bypass switch on the board? Or will you simply do the switch in the program?
