In all fairness its a fairly large host and if it comes with power switch, and focus etc its not too bad of a price for a complete 10" anodized aluminum host.

Ask someone to make you even a simple design 10" long aluminum host thats anodized and its going to run you more than $60 and wont look as nice usually.

Worth to the customer has nothing to do with production costs. Thats like saying my hand assembled driver should be worth more than a mass produced one because it took more time and cost...

Considering theres no other way to get a host like this for $60 I think its worth considering. Would I like it for less.... absolutely! We will see what happens.

without focus (aixiz modules) power switch (maybe only a 'tail switch') and etc.. like diode or circuit board.

Yes, but it goes the other way around as well: the value the customer, especially a production-price-ignorant customer, places on an object can not reflect the actual production costs (or lack thereof), and the price a company is willing to accept for the product. Let's make sure that we're not overvaluing these hosts.

I could build & sell anything 'quality' from a host like this easily for over $300 to several people I know who've offered to buy my S3 arctic from me recently.

IF the quality is there and proper anodising methods, I personally think $60 is an alright price excluding shipping. Mass production may be a possibility to lower the price except we don't know is that person on ebay is the manufacturer himself or just another guy trying to buy & sell Artic Host. If he is just another buy & sell, then it is just like another person conducting Group Buy on ebay then lowering the price from him may not be a possibility.

Things is , does that $60 includes the necessary things like Switches? Caps? IMO that is the basic things that are needed in that host. Things like Driver, Batteries, Laser diode, module if geen, Heat-sink, Lens, it's alight if it is not included, we can source it ourselves.

If a Smartswitch like driver is required, then have to source ourself, or DIY it and program it ourself.

Im waiting for a reply on what is included. If we can get a list of people interested together for say 30 units we might have some leverage for a lower price especially seeing as these empty hosts are not a regularly sold item so there is no set price.

Even at $60 I will be purchasing one. In order to have one of these custom made would require hours of lathe AND mill work a piece. Or else you would need to order by the hundreds if you wanted to have them cast as I would assume these were.

Even if these units cost only $5 a piece to produce someone had to invest thousands to produce them and they didnt do it for charity.

Hopefully we can bring them down though. We just need to show interest in buying bulk but only at a lower price.

Yes that's right. If Wicked Lasers is the orginal maker, then it makes a possibility to lower prices since they are the manufacturer of the lasers themselves, they can always use that host for other laser colours even if Artic don't sell well, which in fact the opposite, Artic is selling to well that they themselves have a backlog.

But thing is, if that person in ebay is not, then it makes sense why he is charging that much. Looking at that host itself I know immediately what are the efforts involve in cnc turning and cutting because I did turning and cutting myself. I think this is not done manually with a lathe. IF it was, then that person gonna work like mad to ensure all the hosts stay metrically the same.

cnc machines itself cost tens of thousands, and Artic Host is the coolest I have seen up to date, 60 is a fair price imo. But, the 60 must include switches and all necessary things, how do i say? I dunno the correct word to describe, but the "infrastructure" of the host must be there.

I am interested as well, let us know what you find out.

Also, no "shell" costs anywhere near $60 to produce, so this seller is gonna try to rape us hardcore on the price.
I would barter the shit out of him,get him down to $20ea. or less.

I tend to agree... this host seems nice enough if the prices comes down a lot.

If it actually does go down to $20 i'm probably in for a couple.
