A Guide To Buying Your First Green Laser

Rob, have you tested the laser for output? If they're up to spec, and the quality is worth the price, than I'll be happy to add it. Another thing... Which company were you referring to? There were links to a number of companies on that page, all with different products, and I can't tell if they are run by the same people or not. And as realista said, they look expensive; they have the same hosts as Rayfoss, but at a higher price.

realista- I would add your list, but I really don't see much sense in having two threads doing pretty much the same thing... Sorry.

Yeah Random, I have the 100mW "STEALTH MODEL" & it consistently puts out MORE than the stated 100mW's. It's a well constructed, adjustable laser, & it's made by "BLUESKY LASERS" They most DEFINITELY need to be on your list. Thanks, & I'm sure that 'PAUL' from "BLUESKY" will appreciate that also. rob

That's good, I'll put it up, but you still haven't really answered the question about the sites. There are 6 sites at the top, which one did you order from? As soon as I have a link I'll add it.

Hey RANDOM, on the link I gave you, there is ONLY ONE site that says BLUESKY MARKETING. They are part of a business conglomerate that includes all of those other sites. But there's only ONE for BLUESKY. rob

Ok, thanks. I was confused, because the "green laser pointer" link at the bottom had a laser called the "bluesky stealth".

Are the 100mW lasers on some of these sites from 40-150$ quality lasting lasers or would i be better off buying a module and DIY kit and making my own? Also does O-like, rayfoss and budgetgadget ship 100mW to U.S

Hey awesome guide. By the way, I am going to order a novalasers x-100 (100mw) CNI pen style laser, and you said in the guide that anything 100mw and over need a duty cycle? Please tell me what a duty cycle is. Thanks.

im not an expert in this but a duty cycle is how long you can run the laser before turning it off. This helps avoid overheating the diode and killing it. for example: 30 seconds on then 30 seconds off. Having a bigger heatsink will increase this

Hi all,

I was thinking of buying a green laser pen, and I found a TRUE Green 30 mW for $35. Is this a good price, or can true greens be found for cheaper?

Thanks,

Tim

All three of them ship to the U.S. I'm a little confused by your question, can you post the link for the laser you want? Sometimes the quality of the lasers vary even within one company.

What is the website? You know, just because it says 30mW, doesn't mean it is. Some companies (such as DX) lie regularly about the output.
And yeah, you can get an LEDshoppe 50mW pointer for $24. These have been measured as high as 130mW.

I was thinking about this one www.rayfoss.com which i know is a good buy because i read a review on it. or this one www.rayfoss.com But in the end i just decided to go with Jayrobs green DIY and nexbox360s 200mW green module because i heard good things about both those items and i like the custom aspect of this setup. My question is basically which of these will give me a better quality longer lasting laser pointer. Not that it really matters now because im solid on my decision to get a DIY :D

Needs some updating, Wickedlasers' lasers are now of good quality, however extremely expensive.
Skylasers are not cheap anymore, they increased their prices a lot, maybe move it to bad companies..

I have never heard of nexbox360, so I can't say. But getting a Jayrob build was a good decision.

Grix- I may change WL, but they still haven't really proven themselves as a good company to me. I probably will soon, though. As for Sky, I'm keeping it where it is. Their lasers are still significantly better quality than those of "bad" companies.
