8x BR DIODES

I just posted the info on two set at 310mA. One is putting out 415mW the other is putting out 490mW.

So probably somewhere between those two ;)

HEY Sarge -- How long is a battery charge lasting on that Key Chain 8X?

Peace,
dave

Pretty darn good ill say i haven't changed them since i got the laser back from you and i play with it alot about 19 minutes now i keep track using my iphone! and thanks for the info too Dave.

Peace,

You know Dave, the difference between those two diodes is... well... massive! Do you suppose the different drivers are the variable affecting the huge difference in output power?

I mean really... 310mA? What if you bumped that guy up to 350?

You'd see about 553mW with that diode since Blu rays increase ouptut power at a linear rate! (According to IgorT's new findings from what I understand).

I was considering the BDR-203 for my first 8X, and to have it set at 310mA just so I could have at least 400mw, but perhaps I'll see either way more than that, or even way less! :/

Perhaps that "freak" happens to be drawing more voltage than the other. That MIGHT explain the extra boost...

Current was set with the same dummy load under the same conditions. These diodes are simply that variable.

This is one of the reasons we suspect that the 12x's are the same diode as the 8X's. some of these 8X's are very efficient.

"All 8x Owners" datasheet updated with the entrance of davidgdg.

P.S. for Daguin: can you pls confirm the Current Input and if the Owners List is OK? :yh:

Edit: 12/10/2009

"All 8x Owners" datasheet updated with the entrance of michaelzirbes and further improvement of Sportcoupe data (corrected of a mistake of mine).

..much of the graphs for these 8x plots is extrapolated and there is no runtime (since they are not in use yet). ..but when the first builds from these diodes are done, it will be easy to tell "i use diode #3 at 350mA" for example.
perhaps the graph with all 8x diodes could be added separately to the first posts?

How about adding the data from the murder diode(s)?

Well, one thing is to collect a minimum data from every owner who likes (and is willing) to show the characteristics and functional time of his laser(s), another different thing is the technical approach that Igor is doing with his "murdering" tests. I started to collect 8x data going around in the LPF, with the aim to give to the members a certain "feeling" about these new 8x diodes; of course my datasheets depend on the good willing of the owners to PM me their updated data....

Igor is already doing a terrible work, as these tests are an additional work to the laser manufacturing and (as these are some "strong hobby" activities) in any case their are a minimum part activity respect to his real professional work...;
I have no heart to ask him to PM me the data relevant to the diodes under test (I wonder to know how few are the hours he sleeps every day), but he is already issuing his own plots relevant to the ongoing tests...

People that do not email with him regularly have no idea how much IgorT actually works (much of it for us). I know, for a fact, that sometimes he does not sleep.

Genius is a curse

We all owe him much more than money. Just take these "murder" test for instance. Yes, we paid for three diode for him to test. However, who do you think is paying for all the parts to build the testing units (the cyclers)? Who's hours are being used to set up and do the testing and to run and re-plot the diodes regularly? Have people even considered how long it takes him to write the lengthy and VERY informative posts he posts here and in PM's?

For all of this, he gets the knowledge to build some of the best lasers available to us. . . . and then some complain that his prices are too high :tsk:

Peace,
dave
