574nm 36 mW Yellow Laser

Thanks. I have plenty of those 520nm AR coated two element lenses from DTR now. Don't know if I care that much about getting a somewhat more yellow green laser diode, though.

Yea, I have several 2 elements also, the 3 element 520AR is not available ATM, maybe from China ??

Anyway I won a ( NEW-OTHER ) extracted 1w 520 GBall but got what looks like a 525, maybe an 03 in place of an 01, but I am not complaining as it burns bright, burns holes in my cardboard at infinity focus just like the 7475, slower than a 3w but still burns so they are not puny, very bright, daytime tree line visible bright.

I paid more for shipping than I did for my laser from OPT Laser. But, in all fairness, I got my laser in less than four days from the Chinese mainland. If these lasers were selling for $200, the shipping wouldn't seem that high. It is the fact that the laser is so inexpensive that we complain about the shipping cost. I did too.

If you want the 575nm laser, email Freeman at fb@optlaser.com. Last I heard they were building new ones as they were out of their current stock of them.

That's what Freeman told me also, that they were out of stock at the moment and would be getting more in stock soon.
I haven't heard back from him yet; he also mentioned a more powerful version is being developed, but he didn't say when they would be available.

Yep, told me they were out of stock but expected samples in soon.

Hypothetical:

If I paid someone make me one in a Spartan host, would it be possible to add a momentary on button?

Sure. Especially if they use a BB driver as they have that option built in. There is a momentary off switch so you don't need all the current to run through that tactile switch.

Paul, not so much a stupid act on my part, I suspected they might be the same, but was told (I don't remember who, maybe second hand from the Aussie?) that they were higher quality made by a different source. Regardless of that statement, I decided not to order the expensive one, because the China units were so much cheaper, but then Freeman told me he could not ship for two months, so I ordered the expensive one just to get it in hand and see for myself if they were different, so... you didn't tell me anything I didn't already suspect.

I bought both the 565 and 575 from aussie and have them in hand. Still waiting on the other units. Expensive but glad I did it. The 565 came in a cni housing very nice and stays cool

Excellent :)

In a couple weeks, I expect I'll be in the BST area trying to solicit a builder!

Mine has a beautiful Gaussian beam as well. I am still amazed at how inexpensive this laser was and how quickly I got it. I imagine I will buy the 565nm one and, of course, the higher power 575nm ones still in development. But, it seems that OPT Laser isn't going anywhere, so there is no need to rush as far as I'm concerned.

Yea, I'm not ordering from our aussie friend again, unless he is the only source of high power 575 units and is agreeable to sell to me now, after outing the ruse.

I never did order from him and I certainly won't now. I can turn up the power on inexpensive lasers just as easily as he can. Besides, I have had several email conversations with Freeman B., and I feel like they are being up front with me. He has come through on everything I've asked of him so far.

Freeman told me he should have more of the 575 in a couple of weeks. I'm in for two.

I'm going to try to pump one of my 575 modules with a higher power 980 nm laser and see what happens, maybe crispy critter the crystal.
