445nm Lens Comparisons!

Re: 445nm A130 Lens Comparisons!

Love the video! I can't get enough atm. Thanks for testing.
Looks great as a pointer but I do hope a good & not too expensive lens is found for the fast axis divergence. I really want 445nm in a RGB white fusion type setup.

Re: 445nm A130 Lens Comparisons!

I'm happy to hear these are bright. I love lasers especially for the beam. Any laser with a bright beam makes me feel like a little kid at Christmas day...Reading Jayrob say "this is a very visible wavelength" makes me wish my 445nm would get here sooner!!! (Will be around friday..Gotta get my host next week from you hopefully, Jay) :) Good luck with your lens testing! I really cant express how much I like the beam of a laser....

No just trying to get a bulk order and pass the savings on to those who get on my list-after I send them all out you will need to go to aixiz for more(a GB more or less)--hak

You still have me on your list, right Hakzaw ?

Re: 445nm A130 Lens Comparisons!

Jayrob, I am loving your description of you 445nm laser. Video is disappointing though, I have still yet to see a video that accurately records the color of these only photos. Hopefully one of my 3 cameras will be up to the task.

Re: 445nm A130 Lens Comparisons!

I'm sure I can get a good picture of the beam color with smoke and a still shot...

But for some reason the video and the dot pics were not at all the look of it...

I'm telling you that 300mW's is serious with this wavelength... I really can't imagine even wanting it any brighter!

Re: 445nm A130 Lens Comparisons!

Jay could you please compare the aixiz glass for 405nm and a regular aixiz glass, for power output and output shape?

I only have access to the regular glass at the moment, and @ 1050mA , it peaked to 1020mw.

Im tryinig to see if there is a big difference between the 405nm AR aixiz and the regular glass is a big difference or not.

Re: 445nm A130 Lens Comparisons!

Spyderfire, please take a video, or atleast some pics of that beast!

Re: 445nm A130 Lens Comparisons!

I would but i cant see the beam very well with this Piece Of Sh!# camera. Only outside in the dark.

I posted that pic already.

Re: 445nm A130 Lens Comparisons!

And it looked amazing! maybe a burning demonstration? :eg:

Same beam and dot profile...

I'm pretty sure it's the same optic with a different coating. I'm sure you probably noticed, that lens gives a nicer looking dot than the other lenses you tried correct?

@ 475mA's:

* AixiZ glass lens - 272mW's
* AixiZ 405 glass lens - 315mW's

So you get about 15% more power with AixiZ 405 glass vs normal AixiZ glass with this 445 diode.

Not sure it will be the exact same with your super high powered one. But theoretically it should be...

Very close to the same increase percentage anyway...

Re: 445nm A130 Lens Comparisons!

Perfect. Yes I like the dots "roundness" , clipped, look with the glass aixiz lens for this build.

Thank you for taking those measurements. 15% is substantial enough to warrant getting the 405nm coated glass.

Re: 445nm A130 Lens Comparisons!

Your welcome...

Here's some measurements after turning it up to 640mA's:

Update:

Turned up the power to make it a class 4 hand held...

* Lens used - AixiZ 405 glass
* 640mA's
* 530mW's
* Forward voltage - 4.03
* Battery current draw using a Micro BoostDriver and AW 18650 - 812mA's

This driver is using extra current even though it is not having to boost voltage...

That said, it is a very stable driver...

Re: 445nm A130 Lens Comparisons!

So I'm guessing that 445nm isn't hard to see with your eyes as far as the dot looking strange and blurred? (like 405nm)

Re: 445nm A130 Lens Comparisons!

It's visible blue... and you can imagine at the power of the diode, it's very very bright....

I would say that my 530mW 445 laser is about as visually bright as a 150mW green. (guessing)

@Jayrob...
Jay, have you tested this with my glass lens that is in the 10.5 mm brass housing? You had some of these, I think, like those that I sell on eBay?
Several of my customers have used this for 405nm, as it was designed for 635nm LD's.
It has a longer focal lenth than the 405-G-1 and several have commented on it';s small dot with 405nm. They are willing to sacrifice a little power to get a small spot. Sorry no data from them via me, as they did not give exact reports. I think soem of those are he, so maybe thewy can m=comment. This would be to compare w/ Axiz 405nm glass. Again, there is no magic to a "405nm coating."

Also I see at least one member who has a 405-G-2 , but running on the PHR. I think that lens needs to be tested as well. I have stock, so it should be looked into too.
