445nm Lens Comparisons!

Re: 445nm A130 Lens Comparisons!

Can you mesure the divergence and the size of the plot (at the output of the collimator) with the Aixiz 405nm glass lens ?

Re: 445nm A130 Lens Comparisons!

Wearing eye protection, you can see that the AixiZ 405 glass lens still produces a line, not a dot. But pointing out into the night sky, and just normal pointing like we do normally, it looks pretty good for a cheap way to collimate this diode.

I measured the 'dot/line' at 20' best focus. At this focus, I measured the dot/line at 20', and also at 2" distance...

* 2": 2.3mm X 5.4mm
* 20': 2.2mm X 16mm

Interesting that it only gets WIDER but the height actually went down? Hmm.

Re: 445nm A130 Lens Comparisons!

Not sure how it all works, and I'm not sure just how precession my measurements are either! :crackup:

But I just wrote down what I saw...

Remember it was in focus at 20'. So the 2" measurement was out of focus.

If the beam is 4mm at the output of the lens, the divergence is about 2mrad, not bad !

Re: 445nm A130 Lens Comparisons!

You can just glue the AixiZ focus ring onto it with some JB Weld... It works fine...

P.S. Before buying, you guys should get a few more opinions about lenses... But then again, the AixiZ 405 glass lenses are cheap enough...

If you test one, please post and let me know if you agree with my findings!

I would hate to have pointed the wrong direction with this...

It's just that there are many people testing different options still!

Do not be fooled. The ones on ebay ARE the half threaded kind. I just got mine from there :p

Just ask for full thread's you will get them but you have to ask¿ The PHR in my sig is using the housing but with a 405-G-2 in it.

Well that's good to know :p But I'm saying they SHOW full threads but SEND half threads.

Re: 445nm A130 Lens Comparisons!

Yup that happend to me thay sent a half thread.
I sent them a msg 5-10mis later (fast) Chuck respondedand and said thay send another no questions. Was told shipping made an error.
Then thay sent two fullthread one's lol :)

Maybe I could try that :p

From the auction: "The coatings are not suitable for blue or violet light"

Don't they have a violet version somewhere? Or am I thinking of aixiz?

Like I said... It was linked to me awhile ago and I never looked at the coating.

I think you're thinking of aixiz

Re: 445nm A130 Lens Comparisons!

I hope to be offering very soon--full threaded AR 405nm Aixiz glass shipped free to US at 10$ each--PM to get on the list. Will post photos in BST as soon as I get them..blank modules too.--hak= a few diodes left too.

Re: 445nm A130 Lens Comparisons!

Are you just putting them in the plastic acrylic lens nut or are you making your own? I would like to see some lens nuts made out of metal
