445nm Lens Comparisons!

Re: 445nm A130 Lens Comparisons!

I assure you it is not dust. It is a perfect interference pattern like TEM20, the camera cannot capture it properly. It might be something with the lenses themselves...

Re: 445nm A130 Lens Comparisons!

Yeah there's not even too much multimedia on these yet..

I wonder how fast it will light a cigarette (no I don't smoke lol, but I've lit employee's cigarettes at my work lawl)

I wonder if 600mW+ can light a candle?

Nope it takes about 900mW to light a candle, about 985mA input. 445nm diodes can set clothing/cloth on fire at about 1100-1200mW from 20ft way focused.

I can't light candles with my 1.2W 445 :( I guess I just need to find the right type of candle

Re: 445nm A130 Lens Comparisons!

I got my new lens today. Here are comparisons with the one I got before:

Diode end:

Here with the 2nd lens unfocused you see this anomaly in the center of the dot. Is it supposed to be there?? It is unaffected by the focus and it is not dirt.

Last, I can hear the optics inside the nut rattle. I tighten the ring a little but I fear to break the optics.

Is it rotating with lens adjustment? That will determine if it's on/ within the lens assembly.
Otherwise, it may be a spec of dust on the diode window.

Re: 445nm A130 Lens Comparisons!

one can see a few of these, and even with Newton rings around them.

Re: 445nm A130 Lens Comparisons!

About laser lens coatings:
It seems that there are only 3 types of coatings, named a,b and c.

"A' type AR coating -MgF2- is a yelloish or reddish if multiple layers(405 G1 is yellow tinted while multilayer AR coated G2 is red tinted)
covers from ~400nm up to ~600nm.

It is not on the diode, there is no artifact without a lens or even with an acrylic lens. It is so perfectly centered that you can't tell that it is rotating with the lens, but it obviously must be. You can see other tiny specs on the lens, this is dust. Note how dim and rough the shapes are. The artifact in the center is bright and perfectly smooth.

Re: 445nm A130 Lens Comparisons!

given all that.. my guess is a blob of impurity inside one of the lenses which is acting as its own lens and focusing some extra light to that bright point.

or maybe a bubble.. that would act like a lens.

To answer your question, it's not supposed to be there.

Re: 445nm A130 Lens Comparisons!

There is one smaller beam inside the big one .. seems like your diode is pregnant, sir.:umbrella:

This must be the explanation, two of the lenses appear to be touching. But it is very strange though because I can hear the lenses rattling around in the nut...

Re: 445nm A130 Lens Comparisons!

Touching lens would look exactly like this IMHO. Can't test it at the moment however.

Re: 445nm A130 Lens Comparisons!

I got one today that rattles. I haven't noticed any bright spots, but I'm using it on a relatively weak 405nm. It has yellow coatings, but it's one of the ones with round holes in the retainer ring. My one with slots in the ring doesn't rattle.

*Edit: Just put the rattler on my 445nm and there's no bright spot.

FireMyLaser;

Your picture points out another question:
fc440bf1.jpg

The lens assembly with the hole retainer seems to have thinner lens package.
The retainer is deeper in the " lens assembly".
There seems to be no consistency with these new lenses.

Re: 445nm A130 Lens Comparisons!

Update:

Although my first order of 70 AixiZ 445 lenses were all good. I just sent my next order of 60 lenses back yesterday...

They were a mixed bag. Some were acceptable. (but still about 4% less power than the first batch of 70)

But most were a completely different focal length. The longer focal length lenses were 30% less power.

Also, some had loose optics. I called AixiZ, as well as wrote a letter describing the different issues.

They asked me to just send them all back because they need them to compare and show their suppliers.

I asked that they get me my replacement lenses from the same source that the order of 70 lenses that I got a couple of weeks ago came from.

They did not say whether they were from a different source. This is just what I am assuming. Because of the huge difference in consistency and quality control.
Wow Jay, sorry to hear it :(
I am, however, very happy to see that you attention to detail and quality has not wavered - making those of us that elect to let you do the hard work all the more happy with our end-products

Speaking of which, I just got back from Miami yesterday and found your 405 lens + custom nut in the post - thanks! I will be testing it asap and will provide pics as always ;)

Re: 445nm A130 Lens Comparisons!

Hope you like it!

Update:

I received my lenses from AixiZ today...

I tested 20 of them and since all of them were acceptable, then I will assume the others are good. (I don't have time to test every single one, especially since the first 20 were good)

For people who are waiting on orders from me:

First, thank you for being so patient...

Really sorry for the long delay. I'm not normally like this. Normally I can ship with-in a couple of days...

It was a combination of waiting on delivery of hosts from DX, plus the huge surge in orders with the availability of the 445 diodes.

So I ended up with a large back log of orders that I am working through per 'date paid' to be fair to everybody.

The other thing that happend. Was that on 7/24, I had to send back 60 lenses to AixiZ because they were not acceptable. See here:
445nm A130 Lens Comparisons!

So that slowed everything up even more! Now that I have the replacement lenses, I will be trying to get caught up. (I hope to get mostly caught up before I leave for my camping trip 8/15 - 8/22)

Anyway, most of the orders for kits, include the AixiZ lenses. And that was what slowed me up even more than waiting on hosts. I have plenty of hosts and lenses now...

Once again, I apologize for this delay. Which is not my normal style and service. But a bunch of things happened all at once. And it caused a pile up...

I will try desperately to ship as many orders as I can before I go on my camping trip. (I will message you when I ship)

If anybody decides that they would like a refund, that will not be a problem. And I totally understand due to this delay. (not normal)

Please just PM me about this. Please do not file a PayPal dispute. Just contact me and I will take care of it quickly...

Thanks again for being so patient!

Hope you guys like the kits!
