I don't think he had that much in the 6x sled GB that a refund will kick start the lens GB.  I believe what he meant was that once the GB is complete, he'll have the 6x diodes he needs to make lasers for customer's orders he currently has, which will then give him the money he needs after selling the lasers.

I view it this way: the LPF community is pretty stingy in general, but we're pretty generous when it comes to other hobbyists. We have expressed interest in several hundred of these lenses already; if Igor set up a collection of $1 per reserved unit, I believe most of us would gladly contribute. Just a thought.

$1 would be nice, unfortunately it probably won't be enough to do anything with since these will likely cost $25-30 a piece (maybe more after custom lens nut costs), and if interest (across the interwebz) can reach the 500 piece mark, that's between $12,000 and $15,000, if not more... enough to buy a new Honda Fit, lol.

I was looking for lens info when I ran across this site.

U.S. Lasers. They had a lens beam divergence calculator.

It seemed to imply that beam divergence was solely determined by the clear aperture of the lens.

I thought that lens back focal length was the main factor.

Since you have played with many lenses, do you think clear aperture or back focal length was more significant ?

Yeah guys listen to rkcstr...

As far as i know, all Igor was waiting for, was the 6x diodes to help him gather the final funds.
Now that he finally on the way, he should have the money together in no time!

You guys have to remember how much personal money Igor actually lost on this GB, IIRC at least 1k$ for just the first batch and it goes on and on, how many guys do you know that are willing to blow that much dough, just for the sake of the community?

just be patient, they should be here soon.

Igor - I want in, as long as this can be easily installed by me (a newbie with few tools, but not a moron, or at least I like to tell myself that). In our emails you made it sound easy, so I am hoping that means easy for me ;)
