4.4W 445nm dual diode laser

Re: Worlds most powerful handheld 4.4W 445nm

Could you take a photo of that? I'm just curious...:tinfoil:

Already tried, didn't work out. I need to use a camera that can pick up 445 better.

I just tried to get a dot picture today. I went into a grass field and set up a cardboard box as the beam stop and used a 15mW green laser to align it. I mounted it on a tripod and got my friend to turn it on and turn it off. I took the picture but when I got home it wasn't recognizable, the spot was too bright and the photo just looked like a massive blue spot. I will try for a better picture later with a better camera. It would be better in the daytime, but then there are around the field.

if I could sell my 473nm handheld, then I could finance part of the new project ;)

Well, if you're interested I would love to build another :D

I'm very interested, but I have no funds at the moment :(

Would love to have a handheld laser with this much power. This is truly AMAZING!

Re: Worlds most powerful handheld 4.4W 445nm

Well, good luck with taking photos!;)

Re: Worlds most powerful handheld 4.4W 445nm

Great job! Glad to see you got this built.

I've already sold this. :( It's in a box and waiting to be shipped.
I've got no projects to work on and I got very bored the past few days. By selling this I made enough to pay for part of a lathe, and that will keep me busy for a long time.

The project cost me a lot. I can't say for sure since I didn't keep close track, but if I have to estimate I would say in the ~900$ range plus many hours of time, designing, testing, redesigning, CAD drawings, building, optical alignment ect.

I knew you would do it ! Great work man!! Amazing outcome. I didn't think either that the two beams would come out so well together. But you did it. And its sold, so next project will be even better!! For now you hold the title of the highest powered hand held laser, and it will be yours for some time I'm sure. This is not and easy project to repeat!

Congrats !!

p.s.
Maybe the next version will be easier for you to build, and simpler for upgrades, so you can keep it for yourself to enjoy.

best of luck!

Milos

Very nice!!

Next time you should include a TEC.

60/90 duty cycle is lame! :p

Re: Worlds most powerful handheld 4.4W 445nm

Good job ARGlaser!

That is truly impressive!

I laughed my ass off when I read the part about how you could not measure the beam divergence because your ruler kept catching fire.

At 60 seconds the heatsink is barely warm, I am very conservative about duty cycles :). It could probably go for 3 minutes without hurting the laser. If I ever do something at this power again I will probably utilise a TEC/Fan.

Thanks :D I need to invest in a proper metal ruler. Now that I think about it, I could've just used my digital calliper.

Re: Worlds most powerful handheld 4.4W 445nm

You sold the most powerful handheld laser in the world!!!

It sure was a beauty whoever got it is very very lucky :D

Yup, but now I can buy a lathe to make more lasers :)
