They are gonna be awesome Rich, I can't wait also.
Just got my 4.5a boost drivers from Jeff, it's gonna fit nicely in the Led Lenser but I might have to take of another 3mm from the rear of the module so I don't crush the driver, still waiting on a 26500 batt that should just fit, gee this build is taking a long time to complete,
I have another project that came in the same package, a lovely
150w-A-04-Y OPHIR now waiting on the 4.5 segment volt metre! If anyone has the same head would love to see there setup!

The ones I bought are ajustable and they are about 8mm tall witch is great but then I need to sink the regulator chip with a tiny sink, so I need that tiny bit of extra room.

Hi BBB,
Hey you don;t need much Cu to sink , a 1/6th thickness will do the job on top of the IC. Oh and nice ophir have the same type there great thermopiles..

Yes I know buddy I use these small black ones, and sink the bottom of the driver directly to the 35mm cooper module!

Hi ,
Yes those SXD's are nice with the bottom surface dedicated to heat sinking . Great idea on the 35mm to sink it to instead of sinking it to a pill. Nice touch BBB...

Virtue Volator, the diodes were already pressed out of 8x blocks, then pressing them out of 12 mm modules now into new 35mm modules again - would it not reduce the thermal contact?
I would prefer modular construction if already bought 12mm modules could be inserted into bigger Cu heatsinks of any diameter.

Dont know if it would affect thermal contact but anytime you press in/out theres a chance something could go wrong im sure. You may wanna ask DTR if you buy the modules, would he switch em out. Just an option. Imo, the 35mm cu modules beat the 12mm hands down. Even if you put the 12mm in a 35mm with thermal compound in a 12 mm hole in it.

Hi guys
If your willing to spend $60 on a top quality Coast flashlight for one of these awesome Cu modules then the HP7 is the go, the inner diameter of the head is 35mm as you will see in these pics a little force with your fingers and the module will press in to the aluminium head, However there is a lip that needs to be dremeled down on the inside of the head for the module to press fully flush with the bezel,

It's a shame all the Coast flashlights have there head glued together and this is the only way to get it apart,
Gentley break the acrilc lens in small pieces and remove from the top, then unscrew the 3 screws, extract the plastic led holder also through the top.

now you can put some long nose pliers in the two holes in the pill and twist the host untill it unscrews out,
the pill won't pop out untill the end when you have the head open,
There is a plastic washer on the threads you need to access so melt the washer and prie it out also,
now you can see and have access to the threads that are glued, there might be other chemicals that will work but I had and use Lactic Acid worked on 3 different Coasts so far,

pore some on the threads and let it work its way down for a few hours, then I heat the threads from the inside with a small butane torch and with a little force from your hands it should break free.

Believe me there is no other way, you need to get some acid on those threads and the only way is from the inside, anyway with this information anyone can pull one apart to use as a host for a laser,
In my opinion this HP7 is the perfect size and shape for a high power laser and the clicky is exceptional
You could use its original 4 battery holder with 3 10440 IMRs and a buck driver or you can mod the holder to take a Minke 26500 lion with a boost driver.

I won't have this one finished for a while since I'm still working on the Led Lenser and can't find time, But I will post a thread when it's done!

Thanks.

Thanks guys
This isn't the led Lenser I'm still working on, this is a Coast HP7 I just bought specifically for a drop in 35mm module, and fits nicely but still a lot of customisation to be done, it won't be finished for a while as I'm working night shift every night, it's hard to find time.
