200mW of green for $125 shipped!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I guess they can't be ran analog huh? Seems like a pretty good deal either way though!

No, TTL only. A good deal? I think so.

I have run mine for a few nights now, very stable, very bright. Very happy with my first labby.

Here is my contribution. I just got one of these Trilights 150mW 532nm "lab" lasers today. Here is an output graph over 10 mins on my Kenometer Pro. 360mW average without IR filtering. I will re-measure when I have an IR filter in place.

Also, here is the cost per mW in USD of the "lab" lasers they sell including shipping to North America based on their current ebay prices:

power price $/mw
100 $100.00 $1.00
150 $130.00 $0.87
200 $240.00 $1.20
250 $355.00 $1.42
300 $466.00 $1.55
350 $594.00 $1.70
400 $866.00 $2.17

I twiddled the pot in the PSU today. I cranked it to just over 400mW of unfiltered output as seen below. It could go higher but I stopped here. I ran it for 45 min and this is the last 10 mins. The head felt at just above room temperature.

If anyone has experimented with focusing the laser it would be good to know. the stock divergence is pretty wide.

I don't know what I was thinking but I ordered the 100mw for like $95 and the next day realized what I did and figured for $10 more, I should have gone with the 150mw. I contacted the seller and they just had me send the difference and I just got the email that it shipped.

The Ebay listing did say it was analog but we'll see what shows up. Can't wait!

Alright guys got my laser today.

It came in a heavily wrapped box and packed well.

Got it out of the box

The module has a quality control sticker over the exit aperture for the laser that has to be removed.

.

Then I was ready to fire it up and play with my new laser.

It came on and went right to 170mW for 20-30 seconds then once the crystals heated up it jumped to 260mW for the duration of the test.

Here are some Beamshots.

It's certainly always possible that you got a defective unit. I wouldn't necessarily assume it's defective until you see what you've got after the IR filter..

I think all 532's need time to stabilize. And as far as your particular laser, these are chinese lasers we're talking about. There is going to be variance between crystal alignments, etc. Though even after filtering the IR, your still likely looking at over 200mw after warmup. Over spec by 33% is nothing to complain about.

Well I said I have nothing to complain about since it is over what was promised. I was hoping for around 350mW before IR filtering. Ok so DPSS lasers have a warm up but this sat pretty steady for almost two munites as 150mW and then shot up to 260mW. You would think it would be a gradual buildup.

How easy is it to get at the pot if I decide to take it apart?

Good deal. I think I will crack it open when I get home. Got any pictures?

Don't have any pictures of it opened and I won't be able to get any for a few weeks as my camera broke. There is 2 screws on the front, 2 on the back, 4 on one side(don't need to take these off), 0 on the other, and 4 on the top.*(these are for the fan, don't need to take these off.). I'm using the side with the fan as top.

They take as long as they take. I have a green pen pointer that acts similarly. It runs 5-7mw until you play with it for a few minutes, then it'll *pop* to 27mw. It just depends on the crystals, and what temp they want to run at to get in the mode with the most power. From the pics i've seen of these particular lasers, the TEC just cools the diode, not temperature stabilize the crystal pair. But someone correct me if i'm wrong on that. I'm only going by pics after all.

Like I said before. These are cheap chinese lasers. That means they're made of the lowest cost parts the manufacturer could find. This doesn't always mean it's substandard quality, but it does guarantee it's not going to be of the highest quality though. My guess is these are sold as 150mw because this is a rare case of someone being honest, and going by the lowest common denominator, power wise, instead of the highest. Otherwise they'd be listed as 350mw lasers.

And there's pics of one opened in this thread:
