1mw 460nm laser pointer

I don't think it as near light blue as they are depicting it.
Laser btb claimed to have 460nm lasers, but they were just the 450nm diodes.
That's a pretty crazy price for 1mw. Unless it's a real 460 rated diode. Even then I'm not sure of the value. It's not close enough to 473 to be very light blue like the picture.
I'm sure someone much more knowledgeable can tell you about it for certain.

It wsuld be sweet if there were finally 460 diodes. It seems like its bound to happen at some point, to replace the solid state 457- a more "true" blue than our current 445/450's

Never heard of a 460 nm diode, or laser for that matter. Closest I've ever seen to that is a 457 nm, which is DPSS. Likely a 450 nm diode.

Bloomplye sold me a "460nm) laser when I was a complete rookie. I specifically asked him if that claim was accurate, and he assured me it was. Then told me it was because of mislabling by the company. Lol he must have been laughing at me the whole time.

Keep your eye out for laserbtb 460 100mw in people's sig. I guarantee you'll see them. Laserbtb has been claiming to have them for a long time. Even in the last group buy, that's what they were called.

Most know it's just the 450 diode, but people still go for it.

Did some checking and there are companies selling diode lasers using a 460nm diode, CNI is one.

they have a 460nm +/-10nm laser, but its certainly not like that little thing i'm sure. its not offered as a pointer, and quite expensive i'm sure. but also it doesn't appear on LG's site which makes me wonder about it.

possibly, but usually that just a few nm...could they really binn them so well you could end up with a straight reliable 10nm difference?

Well, CNI can manufacture diodes, remember. They may be able to alter the wafers just enough to see get that difference. Cant imagine the price though....

CNI is just one of the companies selling 460nm diodes. Whether they can be put into a point form is beside the point.

My 457 is one of the lines in my Multiline Argon. Didn't realize there was a DPSS one. So that would be 914nm? I am assuming then that it is a product of sum frequency generation?

Yes, as well as optical disk pumping. Both can be used. And yes many gas lines exist as solid state as well. That's why solid state exists...to be cheaper than needing to buy gas.
