This uk website is supposedly selling 460nm laser pens, does anyone know if they are really 460nm ?, he is selling them in 1mW, 5mW, 20mW and 50mW.

I have purchased laser pens from that website in the past and i have had no problems, but 460nm laser pens sound too good to be true.

Here is the link to the supposed 460nm laser pens, it looks like they are pre-order only for now.

They're probably single mode 450nm's, possibly even binned. I havent heard of a pointer style laser with a key... (check the 50mW pen)

It´s a host Skylaser and Dinodirect/Laserman use(d). They have a key interlock as Jake already pointed out and are quite good hosts!

I´m quite sure that these pens aren´t 460nm laser (never heard of them eigther and do my wavelength research homework daily).

You should drop the seller a message asking which diodes is working in these lasers.

Btw, why do you the same thread twice?

Hi Guys,

I have been a long time fan of this site and have built a few lasers based on the info and recommendations from the members here. I have always been interested in the blue pointers, and importation of anything above 1mW is illegal in my country, so when I heard about a 1mW 460 nm blue pointer, I was very interested. I found the information on the 'laserto' website, but I thought it may be a scam due to the suspicion from posts that I found on this forum. Further searching found a similar looking unit being sold by 'http://www.megagreen.co.uk/' and its bluesky marketing affiliates. I contacted the company and was told that I could get a 1mW unit with a verification certificate of the power output. I ordered the unit, although I was a little nervous as I had never heard of a 460 nm diode. I received the laser today and i am happy to say that it works. The warning near the aperture states a wavelength of 405 -473 nm. When I saw this I was pissed as I thought they had just sent me a 405 nm unit, but after putting the batteries in, it was a definite blue colour. I compared it to a 405 nm unit I had constructed and it is definitely a lot bluer. I couldn't say what the actual wavelength is but it looks similar to my 445 nm pointers i constructed but much less bright. Whether it is a binned 450 or an actual 460 I wouldn't have a clue. Maybe the 460 nm is a marketing ploy. Either way I am happy as I now have a low power blue pointer. Of course I would love a low power 473 nm pointer but I haven't seen any that i could legally import. Anyway I hope this helps. I would be interested if anybody did in fact know what diodes are in these units.
Regards,

it COULD just be a typo. Y'know, the 6 is right next to the 5. Just saying
