12x Murder Fund! + Graph!

Re: 12x Murder Fund! (Complete!)

Awesome pictures and excellent work on that Igor!

Glad your all better now...

Re: 12x Murder Fund! (Complete!)

Welcome back Igor! Take a day or 2 to just rest up, then test/murder those 12xs all you want

Re: 12x Murder Fund! (Complete!)

.my vote is 550 mW for the 12x 'test'...

setting it as, example, 550mW, then keeping the current constant, and see the degradation rate of the diode, compared with the one of the 8X that you're testing

i agree to all the above, and vote for 550mW too!

manuel

If your experimentation provides evidence that these 12x diodes can be powered up "safely" to 500-600mW+ levels, that would be cool indeed...:D

I say 525mw.

If we raise that current level by 10%, that would be 430 ma .

That should be ~ 565 mw

LarryDFW

550mW vote.

550mW is my vote too,

550mW vote

549mw. Just in case it blows too soon. Then I can tell you all I told you so! :D

550mW is my vote too.

Ok for 550mW.

550mW sounds like a good starting point.

mz

550mW sounds good to me also

For what it's worth, one vote for 400mA here.

Ill also say 400mA.

400mA sounds good to me also.

If we can get a reliable >500mW out of them MANY people will be happy. 500mW is a MAGIC barrier for many.

Peace,
dave

I vote for 420mA.

550mw hmmm sweet imo :)

Sorry but how is 393mA close to what everyone voted for???

Re: 12x Murder Fund! (Complete!)

isnt 393mA about 550mW with this diode?

Re: 12x Murder Fund! (Complete!)

I was going by this graph, 393mA does look pretty close to 550mW on here. Is this not the graph for this diode?(post #172)

Re: 12x Murder Fund! (Complete!)

The biggest differences will be in diode efficiency...

My 12X is putting out 465mW's at 320mA's. That graphed diode shows about 440mW's for the same current.

drlava, we need those new drivers! :)

I thought we were not going by mWs and voted for at least 400mA?

 Correct me if I'm wrong.

Re: 12x Murder Fund! (Complete!)

sorry man, I was just goin by your earlier post where you quoted peoples votes, the majourity (that you quoted) were for 550mW or very close...:yh:

Re: 12x Murder Fund! (Complete!)

Dude stop wasting peoples time. Point is the majority dont want to be conservative.

Re: 12x Murder Fund! (Complete!)

Most of the discussion centered around output rather than input. We were looking to get <500mW safely. I believe that even some of the mA suggestions was simply how much current would get it <500mW

@ IgorT -- Did you get a quick shot of the comparative beam profiles?

Peace,
dave

P.S. Welcome back, Sir

@TJ - sorry for wasting your time man, just wanted to point out that 393mA is not all that far from what the majority of people voted for is all...;)

Re: 12x Murder Fund! (Complete!)

Igor;

Good to see you back on your feet.

Take care of your health, 1st and foremost.

The 8X & 12X current levels you selected will give us lots of new data.
if we want to test 550mW, the current required is 389mA
I understand your caution with the expensive new 12X diode.

Having blown a 4-pin flat Red that I had a hard time obtaining,
has made me more careful in my own Red diode testing.

My 12X graphed out at 500 mW with 400 mA drive. That's just my diode however.
