Hello again my friends. I had several Ehgemus hosts laying around, and someone contacted me requesting an NDG7475 build, so I decided to build it into one of them.

This host is one that I snatched up as soon as he posted because I just knew the acrylic focus adapter would look sweet. I refused to build it with anything but green because I knew green would really light up the acrylic. I used a 2.4A X-Drive, and it hit just a touch over 1.5 watts.

I encountered two minor issues during the build. The first was my own fault, as I got a wee bit of solder on the diode pin and case. This caused it to short out and not turn on any time the module touched the host. DTR's first guess was solder shorting the positive pin to the case. Got out my microscope, saw the short, removed it, and it worked perfectly. Jordan is the man. The second issue was with the focus adapter. The inner diameter was designed to fit over the end of the host. Well, the diameter was perfect, but the threaded hole for the lens was very slightly off center. This caused the focus adapter to catch on the host once it was tightened down far enough to fit over the host. Luckily, I had a Dremel and a carbide bit, so I was able to trim some of it off. Eventually, it fit over the host.

I really like the acrylic on top. It makes it look pretty cool, and very unique. It takes away from the beam shots in some pictures because it diffuses quite a bit of light, but trust me, 1. watts of 520nm light is still incredibly visible in person. :D

I love it! I can't wait to complete my light saber build. I just have not had the extra funds for the Polycarbonite and stuff I need. BUUUUT I might have a buyer for my 1.8w 445nm...

What are you using for your light saber host? I've been wanting to build one, and I've considered one of Saber Forge's hilts.

Yep, just clear acrylic with a hollow center for the beam to pass through. I was surprised at how much light it still picked up/diffused without actually touching the beam.

I made a lower powered 405nm and used the green acrylic lego piece to glue onto the acrylic lens. It lit up very bright. So if he could use the neon green acrylic that could be pretty badass. Ill hafta ask him

@Tater. I had Ehgemus make me one. I gave him the measurements needed to make the blade holder. I have not purchased a blade yet. I have a few plans on how I want to do it. I'd like to be the first to show my thoughts but I suppose if you get it done first Meh w/e. I am going to buy the blade and drop in some diffusion sheeting. Inside the diffusion sheeting I am going to get the correct sized ball bearing or pinball. On the tip of the blade I plan to put a rare earth magnet. This should allow for the ability to extend the blade like the old "LaserSabers" that WL used to put out.

Check out my signature. Should be a link to a picture.

I just placed my order for the blade. I couldn't wait any longer :) /projecttime

Can you link to your Sabers? I'd like to see them. I'm gonna build me a "flashlight" soon.

I would still like to see them both side by side, same distance same night air quality. Focused to infinity and rotated 90 degrees and back and at the same current of course.

A couple things I find interesting is with the acrylic glow you would think the cameras gain would turn down some, but I see the speckles of dust in the 7475's beam. Classic evidence of a bright beam.
Now in the 01T pic I see speckles in the 445 beam but not the 01T.

Do you have an 01T that you can compare side by side with this laser?
I'm not trying to step on any toes or be a jackass, I am truly curious if there is any perceived difference in wavelength, power, or divergence. Then again cameras are not very good at showing small wavelength variations.

OH....SOoooo very nice....Acrylic mixed with a little coherent light is beautiful !! The lens mounts in my Dragon's head build also light up lika Christmas Tree. @! I think I will....er....ah...borrow this idea on a small 520 EDC build I have in mind !!! Thank you for showing us the way !!!:thanks:

Yes it's pretty neat, I might cut out some 4 sided diamond shapes in masking tape and stick them on then paint the rest so when you turn it on the diamonds light up, or little lightning bolts maybe, there are a lot of possibilities. You could make slip over crowns with patterns cut out, little green glowing alien heads would be epic.

Ohh I have it, this would work well with 445, make one like that with a 445 and paint it in glow in the dark paint, then when you turn it off the end would glow, you could even do that in patterns like the alien heads, that's got me thinking now.

The only problem I have with Ehgemus is he isn't working full time on my projects alone! He does superb work at a very good price, so much so his skills are in great demand. Nice host! I almost bought it myself, good thing you pulled the trigger, I might have done so myself if given another day.
