Hey it's one of those things that you will want to learn about safety first. Eye protection, and so forth. Then start with cheap diodes like PHR's. You can get PHR's at modwerx.com or hightechdealz.com...

The 12X diode comes from a Pioneer BDR-205 blu-ray writer that is over $200 dollars for the drive. So it's not a good idea to start there. Practice on PHR builds first, because diodes are sensitive and easy to kill.

Where can you buy the laser diode from? Do you have any recommendations as to which make? How much is your phaser kit? Is it easy to apply the diode for a layman on your kit?

Hey Jayrob could you make a Phaser type 2 with fully functional laser beam like the one that is shown on TrekMovie. I am useless at D.I.Y and would love to know what prices you would have for international shipping. I live in the UK.

P.S. I am a layman with laser technology and I would like my beam to be blue ala The Original Star Trek series.

I can tell from the pictures that the last two would be easy because the head comes apart...

But I would still have to have the host in hand. Other possible issues would be where to mount a FlexDrive. Usually, there is room inside the pill that the emitter is mounted on.

Hey Jayrob. Do you make custom heatsinks to ANy host? I was looking at these (below) hosts off of DX, which are all MXDL's.I am going to use it for a 100ma BR host, powered by the 3.7v AA (or depending on the host, 3 AAA's) Let me know if you can, and what the price will be, since they have a MUCH smaller diameter for the sink. Below are the one of interest to me.

I have the best lens for red that will give your laser at least 20% more power. My 650-G-1 glass lens modification is the same power and beam spec for red as Meredith's (now discontinued) 'optimized for red' lens.
