  • hey Jay. I was hoping I could ask you a quick question about building lasers. I'm building a 150-200 mw laser using these parts:

    SF-AW210 6x blu-ray violet burning laser diode [SF-DIODE] - $15.99 : Modwerx Shop
Laser module w/ heatsink and AR coated glass lens (405-450nm) - $12.99 : Modwerx Shop
    DealExtreme: $16.41 Aurora C6 Cree P4 LED Flashlight (1*18650/2*CR123A)
    http://hacylon.case.edu/ebay/laser_diode/Groove_2.php

I was reading/watching some of the tutorials here/on youtube, and I realized that I don't have a heatsink (I assumed it would come with the flashlight, but apparently not). Would I be fine with just the module heatsink, or should I/where could I (you? :3) buy a heatsink.

    Thanks.
    Hi Jay.

I'm fairly new here but seem to have become addicted already!
I am planning to buy one of your 18650 kits for (you guessed it) an A140 diode.
I am not really concerned with design or size, I am just going for the most affordable option. I am looking to buy everything except the diode, ideally from you.

When building from the casio diode I assume it is a necessity to have a focusing knob?
I am basically just looking for the cheapest reliable kit which I can (as a noob) assemble.
I assume this includes the following I will have to buy from you: host, heatsync, aixiz module (which is the same as a housing?), flexdrive which can handle over 1A which is advisably mounted onto the pill to avoid overheating (what mw will require a heatsynced driver?)), focus adapter knob. Then obviously get my own protected battery and a diode and do all the assembly.

    Thanks, humphry.
Jayrob, what would you recomend for me. I am doing a 1w blue laser, and I would like the "hot option" and i would like to know what the "drill out the pill" and the heatsink options are. Thanks
Yeah that does look sweet... Limited power with a 10440 though. Still a nice lower powered 445... :)
DealExtreme: $16.00 Waterproof SA-R2 Stainless Steel CREE XP-E R2 WC 5-Mode Memory 240-Lumen LED Flashlight (1*AAA) cool host, reminds me eghemus's work... too bad it doesn't have clicky switch, it's just an twist-on twist-off :undecided:
Yes that kit is nice, I have a Maglite 2 D available with 32600 Li-Ions as well! But these monster kits use the FlexModP3 driver, not a FlexDrive...
    I don't sell diodes though...
Send me a private message for more information and parts ordering! :)
I am looking to build a 1w kit , ran across this forum and saw your craftsmanship on the flashlight conversions . I can handle everything but the machinework , I was looking at your 2c Mag lighight setup . I have the flashlight , I can get the flexdrive and the smaller batteries so the housing doesn't need bored . I am assuming I can run 1000mw to maybe 1500mw from a 445nm diode drom the casio xj-a140 projector in this housing if done properly ? Just trying to figure out what all I need from you . The heatsink for $38 , AixiZ module for $5 and the lens for $11 . Is this lens a glass lens ? I can pickup the 25500 batteries . Let me know what the total cost shipped would be , and if you take paypal or cc and I look forward to doing business with you . Lots of nice builds , spent the past 3 hours going thru them . Thanks in advance , Brian
I'm looking to buy a kit for a 1w blue laser. I already have the diode but that's it. Can you help me out?

Hello Jayrob. I am building a 445nm laser. I have already a driver the diode, the aixiz, 18650 battery and the lens. I have a lab heatsink, but I want my laser in a flashlight so i need a smaller. I want it to output about 1 watt so I need a good heatsink. Can you please recommend me some flashlights you sell with heatsink and send me in PM the price.
    Thanks Fivos
