Just finished rebuilding my laser scanner with 1W 445, 500mW 532 and 350mW 640nm Laser-Wave lasers, and got this pic :)

That is insane man!
Awesome awesome work there! I love the yellow and white in the pic
+1 for awesome work

Very cool.

Does that hurt your eyes Dan? I want to make a small projector, but not if I have to wear goggles in the house.

So that is what scanners is about, very very impressive.
(I understand your urge to post. :))

A glorified spirograph is all I see.:tired:

just kidding, you must be proud, I would be.

Nah, you should be pretty right with the brightness. I've built this up a bit as I use it for things like school disco's pretty frequently (like tonight), but if its just around the house, you can still get the same colours with lower powers ;)

Looks amazing. Great job.

Well, disco tonight was a success :)

Only had 1 somewhat major problem ..

Luckily we were using 4 speakers, so could keep going without it :p

+1 rep and do you have a you tube channel ? and video's ? just asking.

Are laser light show machines/projectors normally produced with such powerful lasers? Wouldn't the same hazards be present just the same as if they where in a hand held pointer?

Just curious :)

Awesome pics BTW Things! That's something i wish i could see first-hand!

Yup, infact you'll find many, if not most laser projectors are in the multi-watt range. Some reach into the 40W range for a green only system, and I think I've seen up to 30W for RGB.

However, the beams NEVER reach the audience at these powers, so there is very little risk. Scanning the audience is just asking for trouble. Some people do it, but you have to complete a heap of safety checks before you do, to prevent blinding people, so it's easier not to.

Yes, I do have a Youtube channel: http://www.youtube.com/user/LPFthings
