what type of shipping do you provide to send out these drivers?

I have 4 pcbs, I just need the parts. Im ordering them tomorrow and they should be here by Wed. if the roads stay clear of the frozen crap.

Next step up is priority flat rate envelope for $5. I don't think it will be much faster than FC, Danefex got his in 2 days and he is also in IL, Tonga got his in 3. If you really want to upgrade to priority let me know.

Oh okay. Nevermind then. Im just hoping to get it as fast as possible because I've had my build waiting to be finished and once i add this, I WILL BE DONE!! :yh::yh::yh:

I can wait a little longer though. Thanks for letting me know! =]

So how did you come up with the design?

Re: FS: LM1117 Based Linear Driver - 1.3A Fixed

The circuit is just a simple current source depicted in the On Semi NCP1117 datasheet, modded for two resistors to share the power dissipation. The layout is my creation, I tried to give the thermal pad of the driver as much copper as I could withing the size constraints(must fit inside aixiz module thus 10x14mm). About 3/4 of the copper on both sides are for the thermal pad, connected with a bunch of small vias, the rest are not traces but polygons to leave the high current paths as short and wide as possible.

Datasheet(see Fig.27): http://www.onsemi.com/pub/Collateral/NCP1117-D.PDF

Oh okay i see. Ya, i really like the layout. It seems very well constructed and im very happy that you put as much copper as you did =]
If i wanted to use thermal compound on this could i just use it on all 4 sides of the driver? without harming it?

Should be fine, just make sure you don't press it all the way down on to the heatsink meterial so you don't short anything, but you only really need to sink the top and bottom, resistor side being the most important since that's where most of the power is dissipated.

Awesome! Thanks for letting me know! :))

also, i know that this is a noob question but what is the differnce between a linear driver and a regular driver? like a LM317 driver. How does it work differently?

any updates on the drivers?

As of this morning Mouser is still showing Shipping Pending for my parts order from Tuesday. Not sure what is taking them so long, the roads here are not that bad anymore(Mouser shipping warehouse is in DFW).

Got you on the list.
