You guys should take it easy on the slugs or whatever your smoking.
The slug what a garden pest eating up the leaves on all the vegies. From the Kingdom, Animalia it's class is Gastropoda and subclass of Pulmonata.
order: Stylommatophora suborder: Sigmurethra
length 1/2 " to 10" depending on the species. they live one to six years depending on species.
they eat: fungi, lichens, green plants, worms, cenipedes, certin insects, animal feces, carrion and other slugs.
They lay eggs believe it or not, usuly less than 1/4" in dia. often with thick outer shell of calcium carbonate in clutches of 3 to 50 and as many as 500 a year.
They are eaten by snakes, amphibians, ducks, some beetles and other slugs.
Around here we have the largest varity the Bannana Slug (genus Ariolimax) which can reach 10" and 1/4 pound in weight.
The only one larger is the Black Slug (Limax cinereoniger) from Europe which also resides here, some years they have been known to devastate 75% of washington states strawberry crop's.
Here in the north west we have over 70 gastropod species and among these there are 23 different species of slugs.
