You two are derailing this thread. Can't you resort to PMs if you really have to pursue this petty argument?

Personally I believe this whole BobH thing has been over-dramatised and exaggerated on both sides. I agree that maybe he should let some things go. But so do others that continue to hammer him.

I have seen many instances of members that do not get along; maybe we should start banning these people as well?

EDIT: I first thought bobH was Bobhaha. Thank goodness the right guy was banned otherwise we would have a sticky situation similar to a house made out of marshmallows on a hot day

I have no clue who he is so therefore i voted unban.
I hasnt noticed anything wrong with him.
 
I'm thinking 14 days MAX. He's done nothing but defend himself (albeit ad nauseum) so a 14 day vacation should be more than sufficient. We're not talking about a thief or a dishonest person, nor is Bob a troll normally. People do and say a lot of stupid messed-up stuff when they are angry. I try never to hold things against people that are said in the heat of an altercation.

I would PM him and ask him to remove it, if he didn't listen I would notify a moderator and have him remove it, keeping the drama away from the public is the key.

Of course there are limits, but I don't think Bob has crossed that line yet.

That is exactly what I did... I contacted the Admin and Mods for a while...
When the Insulting Trolling Threads by BobH aimed at myself and Dave
did not cease... this was the result... he got Banned...:cool:

@ EF... yeah... it's not that he stole anything from a member... He was
just running around the Forum being a snide nuisance... A time out might
help him control is anger a bit...

I have no response to that besides, WTF?

If you have no clue who he is, how could you possibly have noticed him doing anything wrong?

If you have no clue about the situation why would you vote one way or another? :thinking:

This is one of the reasons that these ban polls were eliminated. People with no clue were being "recruited" to come vote for reasons that were not germaine.

I went through his negreps again and I didn't find any excessive insulting/trolling that justified a ban imho. Even the cockroach thing could easily be ignored or the post could be quietly removed by a mod. If there's more to it, mind linking me the posts/tell me about it?

This is the second of the reasons why these ban polls were eliminated. "Everyone" wants the callers for the ban to personally prove to them that it was justified.

Before we get specific about a third reason, it is evident throughout the thread here. These ban polls were adding more drama to the forum than the original problem with the member was causing.

@ Grix -- ANYTHING could be ignored. However, why should the same people need to ignore repeated personal attacks, when the problem can simply be removed or censured?

Because said problem also happens to have a great knowledge of lasers that can contribute to this forum, after what I've seen. Simply reporting the posts that causes drama and have them removed is a lot better than to ban and lose a lot of helpful posts too.

I'm really amazed that 8 people as of this post voted to un-ban him now. I've gotta say, we really have a set of characters on this forum. People are quick to say "yeah, let's un-ban bobh! he may be a troll, be he's not that bad, just ignore him". To that I say you all are hypocrites. A lot of people on here call T_J & myself trolls, yet no one ignores us, they instead whine and talk crap behind our backs. To be honest, I have nothing against letting him back after 14 days. But unbanning now would just be ridiculous.
